Pregnancy, Headaches & NATURAL Health

Hello...I'm fairly new here and not sure if this is the right place to post this question but it's my best guess....

Since making a major turn around two years ago with my family switching to a whole foods lifestyle, throwing out all medications, etc. and seeking the help of a homeopathic doctor, I haven't had a single headache.....now that I am unexpectantly pregnant, I have started having headaches about 2weekago (I'm 15 weeks pregnant if that is significant?)... They are mostly when I wake up at night and feel a bit like a sinus headache though I have no other symptoms than the pressure/pain in my forehead area. My homeopath seemed to think it was related to dehydration....at that time, the day I actually experience an ALL DAY HEADACHE that was unbearable...I had to admit I wasn't drinking much (my usual) and probably was getting only 8-16 oz of actual water. He said to increase to 2 1/2-3 qts daily...I just can't do it...I have gotten between 40-80 oz depending on the day of actual water (he won't let me count juice or herbal tea) and water is just not my thing...but anyway...I honestly have not seen any clear relation between the headaches at night and when I drink 20 oz to when I get in 80. If this was simply dehydration, wouldn't I notice a difference? Is it possible this is a hormonal thing I just need to live with (I will not take any over the counter or prescription drugs) or does anyone have ANYother suggestions that are based on purely natural approaches? Thank you!

I'm a life-long migraine-sufferer and just like you I managed to control my headaches with natural approaches. I recently found out that I'm pregnant with baby #2 and also noticed sudden headaches coming in the middle of the night, sometimes lasting the whole day! I'd guess it is a hormonal thing, but if you want you could try the following that sometimes provide substantial relief for me:

1. Badger Headache Soother
2. Headache Buster
3. Bach Rescue Remedy

I hope these help a bit!

I suffer from headaches too . I always have 2 herbal packs ready. One in the freezer and one to heat up. I put peppermint essential oil on my neck, forehead and temples. Sometimes if the pain is around my eyes, I even dot it around my eyes so my eyes will start to water. For some reason that always relieves the pressure for me. You must be very careful not to get it in your eyes.

I usually use the cold herbal pack, but sometimes heat makes it feel better. It all depends on the headache. I also try to get in for regular massages. Releasing the muscles in the neck and upper back does wonders for me.

I hope this helps!

I got frequent headaches in my second trimester and my doctor said that many women suffer from headaches in their second trimester for some reason. He didn't really know why. I personally think it may be hormonal, and also just the body adjusting to supporting the baby - extra oxygen needs, extra blood volume starting to build, just makes you more prone to headaches. Mine were more the tension variety. I use ice on my neck and massage by DH. When I get sinus pressure headaches, I have good success with warm compresses on my sinus area. A rice sock is wonderful for this. Put uncooked rice in a sock, tie off the end. Heat in 30 second intervals in the microwave until its giving off a nice warm moist heat (usually takes only a minute).

These are great suggestions and I think I'll try a few....
as for the rice sock....any idea on how long it would take in an oven? Would it work? We don't use a microwave....
