Any one been to chiropractor in 3rd trimester?

I just went to chiropractor at 39 weeks. My midwife said it is good and sometimes triggers labor. I got adjusted and def. needed it. I guess my pelvic area was all out of whack so it got realigned and should help for an easier birth. After the adjustment a lot of my pelvic pain disappeared and I got contractions all day next day but still no active labor and baby...we will have to see.

Anyone else been to chiropractor or have stories to share? Anyone have it trigger labor or hear of it doing so? Thinking of going back in week 41 if baby doesn't arrive before then.

I have been in at least once a week my entire pregnancy. I was really hoping that yesterday he was going to say that something was out of whack and then have the baby come after he fixed it. No luck. He said my sacrum is ready to roll. I would go in again next week if I were you though and not wait. What did the chiro suggest?

I have been going at least once a week since about 35 weeks. In fact I just got back from an adjustment. Like PP she said my sacrum is ready to roll. It has helped me tremendously with discomfort, but it obviously hasn't triggered labor. I am not counting on it triggering anything, but I am hoping it makes things go more smoothly

Ya know........there are induction points that are used in acupuncture. My sister is a doc of Oriental Medicine and has success with them. The last lady she did them on lost her mucus plug in a couple hours. I haven't heard back yet as to whether or not she went into labor following that. Too bad she lives 12 hours from me now though. She may be coming home to visit next weekend though.

i've been having weekly chiro adjustments for two months now (EDD is tomorrow!). sometimes the adj just makes my hips and back feel better. a few times the baby has significantly moved afterwards, either flipped to be head down or down into my pelvis....this past week's adjustment did that. he's so low that my MWs thought i was in labor walking down the hall to see them yesterday LOL. they also showed me three acupressure points to try if i want to move things along.

I have been going to the chiro this entire pregnancy. This past visit a couple fo days ago, she did some things she hasn't done before but I haven't noticed anything different. Still pregnant...

I have been going to the chiro every other week my entire pregnancy. I went monday and he aligned my pelvis and said he thought I would go into labor any time from the feel of it. But unfortunetly here I am 5 days later and still pregnant!
I did learn about Acupressure to induce labor this morning so I went to the library and got a book and have been looking on the internet for the right spots to massage so Hopefully DH will be able to rub baby out tonight! Lol

I dunno about inducing labor, but regular chiropractic care is the only way I survive pregnancy! I started going when I was 18 weeks with DS and I woke up one morning unable to walk. Been going ever since. Getting your back and pelvis in good alignment and nice and loose generally results in faster and more comfortable labors for many women. I'm a big fan!

I went twice a week during the third trimester. My last adjustment was 2 days before my water broke so I don't think it actually triggered labor. If malpositioning or pelvic misalignment is what is standing in the way of your labor beginning then maybe it would help. I definitely believe that it makes labor easier. I would continue going if I were you.

I went to the chiro all through my pregnancy, but stopped in the last month. Then, on Friday, I went for an adjustment. Saturday at 2am, I went in to labor. So....maybe it did something?!

Question:

How many adjustments does it take to feel better?

I've been twice now. I felt better after the first adjustment for a couple of days, but I didn't see any improvement after the 2nd adjustment. I'm in as much (pelvic and lower back) pain now as before I went.

Any thoughts? I'm wondering if I should switch chiropractors or give this one a little be longer.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

It really depends on how messed up things are. It is going to be different for each person as well. How far apart were the adjustments from each other? If they were too far apart, the gain from the first adjustment would be lost. Normally, IME, when beginning treatment you would go in at least twice a week and after getting to where you want to be then you would slowly start tapering back.

You might want to call them and tell them that you feel as badly as before you had any adjustments. Mistakes can be made as well as your body reacting wonky to an adjustment for some reason. I had that happen once and called them back in a few hours and they had me come right back in a re-adjustment. That made things much better.

I think if this continues, you should maybe check into another chiro. Not everyone clicks physically with every chiro (nooooo, not like that! ) and not every chiro is good even. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

Hope you don't mind my crashing your ddc, but I have a little one born in August and I went to the chiro for the first time in my life while I was 34 weeks. The first thing I noticed besides feeling better after an adjustment than before was it reduced my killer heartburn by about 80%!
I stopped after a visit at 39 weeks when it caused my water to leak (as I got up from the table).
I'm a big fan of a good chiro now!
I started because I had heard it would make labor go smoother. Don't know if that is why or not, but I had an easy (well, easy for labor) labor and smooth birth if my second child.
Just four hours!
