Co-sleeping positioning question & why this sudden need to co-sleep?

Please bear with me, this might be long...

Normally DD nurses to sleep, then we move her (swaddled) to her crib in our room. Lately every other night, she wakes up about 15 min after we put her in the crib (after nursing for ~an hour, and she seems in deep sleep.) I've rocked, bounced, nursed some more, and sometimes it works.

A few nights ago, I started bringing her to bed with me. SHE sleeps okay (but does wake up frequently to nurse and moves her arms and legs MUCH more, which wakes me up.) So basically, I am awake on and off all night. I lay on my side and have a pillow between my knees. My left shoulder and left hip really start to HURT! Also, my left arm is straight out on the bed, or bent under my head, but either way, it h u r t s after a few hours.

I loooove waking up with my LO, but I don't know how long I can co-sleep with her, mainly because it is painful for me, and I just don't get any rest because she moves so much.

I'm wondering exactly how everyone co-sleeps in terms of position? Also, is this just a phase, i.e. does she just need some extra closeness right now, or extra milk right now and that's why she's doing this? It's every other night, right now.

DD needed to nurse more at around 4 months. I think that is when there is another growth spurt. This is also around the time that we started Co-sleeping the entire night. It took a few months to become really comfortable and be able to sleep not facing her.

Good luck
