the amazing placenta

I thought some of you may like to see photographs of our placenta. Most of the ones I have seen are poorly lit and don't capture the breathtaking intricacies of this incredible organ.

Very soon I'm going to make prints and will share them as well. I'd also love to hear about what you did or plan to do to honour the placenta that nurtured your precious baby.

Beautiful placenta!

I'm also planning on making smooties and if anything is too calcified I'll freeze that up and plant a tree on it at our new house

wow cool pics! i was relieved that this time mine looked decent. last time (with natalie) it was a very dark color and was hard. the pathology on amelia's placenta was excellent...we were worried that it was the reason she has signs of osteopenia but that is probably due to the knot in the cord.

I had two hospital births and realized I had never seen either placenta - and started wondering. I appreciate you posting the pics...it gave me an idea of what I had never seen.
