Ok, maybe I'm just an overly paranoid mom, but at DS's school, they run laps for PE. Each time they run a lap the teacher puts a felt mark dot on their hand. So DS comes home from school 3 times a week with felt marker on his hand counting the laps he did. We have to scrub to get it off. I'm wondering....would his body absorb the marker.....or is it pretty harmless?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I may be an overly paranoid mother too, but I would very kindly ask the teacher for another way to mark my kids laps.
I'm sure it's too small amount of ink for blood poisoning, but it would still peeve me that a teacher feels the need to count laps by marking on my child instead of a piece of paper for whatever reason.
Just my opinion! I would be a smidge peeved and discuss with the teacher.

My kids color with markers all the time and end up with marker all over their hands, which is hard to get off. In my household, that's just part of being a kid. I wouldn't fight with a teacher for putting marker dots on my kids' hands.
If I didn't allow my kids to use markers at all, and was very vigilant about them never getting ink on their hands, I might have an issue with the teacher.

:my kid prefers to color his hands rather than paper half the time. So I figure he's already covered in marker all the time.

I dunno. I guess the distinction I make is that if my kids colors on himself I wouldn't freak out so much, but a teacher marking on my child instead of finding a different way to annotate laps.....hm, that just another issue.
I would feel the same if they were drawing smilie faces on them for a "Good Job".
I guess it's just a boundry issue for me.

ETA: I don't have a marker/paint issue at all. I let my kid go hog wild at home with non-toxic paint and markers. I have cute picutes of him covered from head to toe!!!
