Can anyone help me find food grade appliance grease?

My step dad is going to fix my kitchen aid mixer and I'm going nuts without it. The gear I need is only $20 with shipping, the catch is he won't do the repair unless I get the right kind of food grade gear grease to go with it even though all the online stuff says any grease will do. The kitchen aid grease is $20 + shipping and I just don't have that kinda money to spend on grease. Plus I don't need a big can of goopy grease, I'm just greasing a couple of gears, a small tube of groop will work just fine but I have no idea where to look for said grease.

so i'm curious, in the end what was your solution?  I am in the same predicatment.  After 1 week of it being down we are immobolized in the kitchen, my 13 year old son and I have taken our kitchenaid mixer apart to find the gear needs replacing and new grease is needed.  Really, i don't need 3 lbs of grease and i don't really want to pay $20 for it either.  What did you do?

If memory serves we used regular Wheel-bearing grease and its been just fine. A quick google search shows a lot of other people doing the same which is where I got the idea for using it:)
