free domperidone

Any Canadian mamas out there who need some free domperidone? I've weaned off and have hundreds of pills left. Not sure how many ... maybe 500 x 10mgs? I'm in the lower mainland, but could mail them to another Canadian mama. I can't mail pills to the US, so sorry to any American mamas who'd want them! They're free because our extended medical covers it. PM me if you want the stash ...

Hey there,

Kudos for passing them on! I wish I were able to take them. Just wondering how your supply has held up now that you have weaned off? How did you go about dropping pills? I so can't wait to be done with the 16 pills/day but I'm scared of where my supply will end up. Can't decide if I should start weaning pills soon to be done at 12 mos or start weaning at 12 mos. Congrats! :-)

I was wondering, why can't you mail it to the U.S.? Not that it will change anything, I was just curious.

Dom has been pulled from the market by the FDA here in the US so I think it would be illegal. You can order it online from a canadian pharmacy but sometimes it gets confiscated by customs...usually it doesn't though.

Hi Cindy!
My doctor advised me to wean off because my dose was so high. The midwife prescribed that dose (160mg/day) and my doc was horrified that I was on that much. I talked to a couple of other mamas who'd weaned ... I dropped from 4 pills 4 x a day to 3 pills 4 x a day then next week, then 2 the following week, then 1 pill 4 x a day the last week, then none. To be honest, I haven't noticed a difference in my supply AT ALL. Which makes me mad, to think I was taking it for soooo long with not much help. Or maybe it did help, and now I have a better supply that when I started ... who knows. Anyway, Esmé still nurses very happily and very often. We still supplement, although in a cup, so she's getting less than when we did the LA. She's eating lots of solids too, so that helps.
I wanted to started weaning now so that I'd be done by 12 months ... but as it turned out, it didn't take that long at all.
Hope all is going well with you!

I'm nervous about sending pills across the border. You have to declare what's in the package. Maybe I'm being overly cautious? Dunno ... hmm. I'll think about it.

That's great that your supply hasn't dropped, Starling!
I'm thinking about starting to wean off soon. I didn't notice any drop in supply from 90 mg to 60 mg.
It will be annoying to have taken it for 15 months + for no reason. In retrospect, I didn't even notice much change when I started taking it so we'll see...
Sorry to be nosy, but have you noticed any other changes since you stopped?
I blame it for being hungry and having no libido

Ooo that kinda freaks me out bc I'm taking 160 mg as well. I think I might start weaning and see what happens. If my supply tanks I'll go back on until 1yr. Otherwise I will just be happy.:-) I'm sooo happy for you that you have stopped and still have milk! That is my hope bc I want to keep nursing DD beyond 1 yr and hope to be able to do it for more than just comfort. I just wish DD ate more but we'll get there.

Megan... I think I was so desperate for a solution that when the dom was offered to me, I clung to it as if it were the be all end all. Now I really wonder. I didn't notice a huge difference when I started it either. Oh well, our intentions are golden!
As for other changes ... geez, I wish. I'd hoped to lose weight once I got off of it, but I haven't dropped an ounce. And the libido hasn't changed either. Sorry. I DID notice that my appetite isn't as voracious though, now that I think of it. So maybe the weight loss will happen in good time. Here's hoping!

I really hope you still have milk too! I think so long as baby is happy to be at the boob, we can still preserve what little we do have and encourage our boobs to keep at it.

Well, we do our best, YK? In retrospect I'm not sure all the pumping I did was helpful, too, after about the first month. Well, we have happy, healthy babes who love nursing so we can't have gone far wrong, right?

Hey guys - I've been on dom for a while now and have noticed my appetite has increased dramatically and I have absolutely no libido. None. Zilch. Nada. Are those side-effects of the dom or nuring in particular?!!
There was a thread on the increased appetite while on Dom a while back, and I certainly noticed that I was constantly "hungry" and snacking when taking it, I think I was also taking about 160mg/day. Someone pointed out that is a drug taken for digestive issues and that maybe the reason for the increased hunger is that you're digesting food faster? Sounds like a reason to me. The good news is that now a year and a half of being off it, plus lots of workouts, has led to me dropping almost 30lbs! And my 21mth old DS is still nursing!
