Losing the battle...

against illness!! My husband got sick the day after Gavin was born, and he's been fighting it off every since (2 weeks now!). It started as a cold, then the last 3 days or so has been more flu-like. Nothing major, but definitely bringing him down. (and forcing me to do a lot more!)

Then Connor got it, but just a cold for him, no fever, no body aches, just a runny nose, raspy voice, and a bit of a cough. He's already feeling better, although his nose still looks gross.

I've been taking Garlic (1000mg) and Vit C (1000mg) daily since Gavin was born since I was GBS positive and had a high white blood cell count at delivery (in fact, they wanted to give me a post partum dose of antibiotics, I declined). On Friday I got the "day before getting sick" feeling and dosed up on Vit D (5000IUs) along with my C and Garlic. Saturday I was fine, tired, but fine. Today...not so much.

Started with a burning chest cough, and I'm finding it very hard to cough since it burns so much and I alsohave no abs!! Throughout the day the body aches have set in, as well as now chills. Still no fever. I took 10,000IUs of Vit D this morning, along with my C and Garlic (and also the Floradix for my anemia). Ugh.

*Really* hoping that I kick this quickly!! Both boys go to school tomorrow, thank goodness (Connor in the morning, Ian in the afternoon) so hopefully I can lay around more.

I feel like CRAP.

I now have a fever. Yay. I'm kicking my husband to the couch tonight, Gavin and I will snuggle together and hopefully get some good sleep. Let's hope that breastmilk does its wonderful things and keeps Gavin from getting sick!! I *definitely* don't want a sick baby!!

We are dealing with the sickies in my house too. Ds came home from school not feeling well on Friday morning. He slept most of Friday, Saturday and today. He is not going back tomorrow.

Woke up in the middle of the night to dh puking in the sink (couldn't make it to the toilet). He's been napping alot lately.

I am feeling run down and coughing up stuff. This stinks.

dd1 & dd2 so far are doing ok.

I took Motrin before bed last night, and that let me sleep pretty well for several hours. But then it wore off, and I got hit with uncontrollable shakes, my fever spiked (I didn't check it then, but it was 101.8 before bed), and I started coughing up crap. The rest of the night sucked.

Then this morning Connor woke up with a fever and puking, although I think he was just puking because of having swallowed phlegm overnight. He refused to eat/drink anything, so I dosed him up with some Motrin. That helped, and he's been eating/drinking now.

I took some motrin this morning and then laid down and slept for 3.5 hours. It's funny...I went to sleep all wrapped up in the blanket with a heating pad, I was SO cold! But I woke up HOT and sweaty, kicked everything off.

Man this sucks!

I haven't called my OB yet, officially I'm supposed to call if I get a fever before my 6 week appt, but I think it's obvious this isn't pregnancy related, so I didn't call.

Well, so I felt horrible all day yesterday, but woke up this morning...no fever, no body aches, only a residual cough!! Throughout the day the cough has given me a headache, but I can deal with that!! So it appears that the concoction of Vit C, Vit D, and Garlic worked!!!

Unfortunately now both the older boys have high fevers.

Here's an odd question...does anyone know which (if any) of the above supplements might be making my urine neon yellow??? It's not dark like I'm dehydrated, it's BRIGHT yellow! Very weird...

I have had neon yellow urine from vitamins before, but I'm drawing a blank as to which ones caused it.. sorry! I'm glad you seem to be on the mend, and while a sick infant is no fun, Keagan caught the crud when he was teeny, I suspect the breastmilk helped quite a bit.
