Nursing Tanks - Why Are They So Short?

Okay, I do have a longer torso, but still, all of the nursing tanks seem so short to me. You would think they would make them a little longer since women are getting their bellies back and not wanting to flash the world. Every time I am holding my baby and I hand her off to someone, my husband will motion to me across the room to pull my shirt down!

Does anyone know where I can buy some long nursing tops that are not so pricey??? (I've seen La Leche tanks and Glamourmom tanks for $40 each but that's pretty pricey when you want to have like 5 on hand ya know?)

I just buy regular tank tops with shelf bras and pop my boob out the top. I have a short torso and can't wear nursing tanks because they are too short but the regular ones work just as well and I can get them a whole lot cheaper

No advice, but I feel your pain! I have a pile of nursing shirts (mostly Motherwear) that I never wear anymore due to the crummy fit. Most are now used as nightshirts only these days.

I'm still ask myself the same think. I been using nursing top for over 4 years and have many different brands.

This is a good question. I hope someone has a good answer!

I have a ridiculously short torso and have the same. exact. problem. I finally broke down and bought 4 Glamourmom LONG nursing tank tops for nursing this baby. I didn't buy them all at once, only one at a time, and my babe isn't due for over 4 weeks yet, but it was one of those things that vexed me for so long while nursing my other kids, that I just knew what I had to do this time. Like I said, I have a short torso, and I bought the LONG tops, and stretched out full-length they are long on me, but IMO it absolutely beats the alternative when one is trying to maintain her self-esteem while nursing and trying to lose the belly flab all at once. Plus I can bend over, reach up, etc. and not worry about flashing anything.

Have you tried the ones from Target? I have one, and it's very long. I think it's a "Gilligan and O'Malley" brand tank.

I was going to post the same thing. I have a couple of those, and they are nice and long on me. They are less than $20.

I have mine from Target & they're really long. They only cost $16 here. I wear them under my shirts or w/e but they always come out way past my shirt & my coat if I don't tuck them in.

Hmm. I seem to have this problem, too. And also that I can't get the tanks to fit right in general! My chi chis are big enough to buy an extra large, but then I'm swimming in the trunk part of the tank. I'm always thinking - I can't be the only one with this problem!

I've thought about buying regular tanks, but they often seem short to me, too.

I looked the other day at Target for nursing stuff and I couldn't find anything. Maybe my store doesn't carry it. I'll have to check online!

but I didn't know if it was because I'm really short.

Hmm, the only nursing tanks I have are from Target - they're the only ones that were available and they are sooo short, especially after having washed them. Guess I'll have to splurge for one glamourmom tank. Now the question is; which color will be versatile enough to wear throughout my nursing carreer??? Just cant afford to buy a variety of colors.

For what it is worth, glamourmom tanks do wear well. Mine got a LOT of use with DS and still look great for DD. The color holds up too.

Yes i too have a long torso and the target tanks are WAY too short, plus i get serious uni-boob and i am only a small c!!
I do not have $40 for one tank top!

What i have started doing is getting the long LOW cut tanks from old navy (right now they have spaghetti strap v neck cotton ones for 3 for $15 ---these below

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/produc...4366172&vid=-1
and then i wear a regular nursing bra under it, and a normal shirt over it. Then i just pull the boob out the top, and i am not really stretching the tank or anything since its low cut, plus even if it gets a little stretched out, eh, they are cheap.

These ones are good too, and have a little stretch, but still are low enough to pull down in front.

Its working well, especially since now its getting cooler anyway!

The Target ones ride up on me too. They start out long, but I guess I have enough of a pooch for them to slide up.

The Glamourmom tanks are made a bit longer but they also have the extr long tanks that go along with the layering trend. I like that your panties aren't showing when you bend down to pick up your child.

Glamourmom also has the "Transition" tanks, which are cut on an A-line for those of us who take a while to....er, deflate, in the postpartum weeks.

The Glamourmom tanks hold up really well if you don't put them in the dryer - I'm wearing one right now that was given to me when I was nursing my now-2.5yo.

nak'ing

I bought mine at Target and it is really long. It sticks out of the bottom of every shirt I own. I think it was around $16.

I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have totally given up on nursing tanks. They just don't work for me and my belly.

I wear a nursing bra and then a maternity tank. My belly is still a little large from pg (please don't look at my siggy, yes, I'm 16 months post partum!) So regular tanks don't even cover me. Thank goodness the current style in shirts is looooong.

Boo to nursing tanks. That's just cruel they are made like that. And then they shrink up in the wash!!

I had the same issue, the only thing I could think of
was to wear a open buttoned shirt over it
so I would be covered otherwise.
