First off, I will say that I have been a super lucky momma to a very "easy" kiddo (as far as bedtime is concerned, at least... ha ha) for over two years, so part of me wonders if this is just my time to suck it up!
But the timing stinks, since we're about to have baby #2 in about a month, and I'm only anticipating more potential for difficulties.
Scenario: Our daughter has slept consistently in her own crib since she was about 3 months old, sleeping through the night fairly consistently by 4-5 months old. Unless she was sick or teething, it was VERY unusual for us to hear a peep out of her for the past year and a half. Also, she usually went down really easily, hanging out in her own crib, maybe talking to herself, and she's a thumbsucker so that always seemed to help. Now, all of a sudden, she will not fall asleep without an elaborate bedtime routine (either my husband playing the guitar to her in her room for about 10-15 minutes, or me falling asleep with her on the couch--she refuses to share our bed--then transferring her to her own crib once she's asleep). And this is AFTER an hour long routine of bathtime, books, milk, potty, teethbrushing.
Additionally, she wakes up once or twice a night. My husband is convinced that it is the sound of the furnace kicking in that startles her, and once she's awake, she screams for mom or dad. I'm not so convinced about the furnace, but it could be.
Questions: Any BTDT mommies see this as a preparation for siblinghood phase?
And does anyone have any ideas about the furnace? (If I close the vent, I think she'll still hear it kick on, and because she sleeps in a crib with blankets (not "covers" like if she were in a big-kid bed) I do think she needs to have it warm in there.)
Thanks, any help would be appreciated!
