A "success" story...

Two hours ago I put my 2 year old and my 3 year old in their toddler beds (right next to each other, of course ) kissed them, plugged in the night light, said goodnight and got two "goodnight"s back... and shut the door.

They were asleep 20 minutes later without so much as a peep.

Just two weeks ago, daddy had to lay with the 3 year old and I had to nurse the two year old and bedtime took more than an hour.... we were in a family bed.

I'm not sure what clicked but suddenly they were going to bed together in the family bed with us joining them later... Then we started painting the bedroom yesterday and put the kids in their room while the bedroom was torn apart... no fight, no struggle at all. For the first time in 3.5 years I slept without my blast furnace of a son sleeping next to me...

I'm not sure if we will put them back in the family bed on Tuesday night when the painting is done... we'll probably let them choose... but either way, they go to bed without help now...

I'm sure I'm supposed to be all ... but I'm more and and feeling a teeny bit unneeded...

Awww...I'm sure this is how I'll feel when dd goes to her own bed. Sometimes I'm torn between thinking that she might actually enjoy having her own bed, and knowing that I'll miss that cuddle time.
Enjoy your new routine mama! Sounds like you have two happy little ones.
