Should I wake my 15 week old to eat at night?

Idk what to do. I have had some bad problems with OS, ds has the worst time ever nursing during the day, no matter if I lie down(he still chokes then screams a lot), lean back..football hold..nothing seems to soothe him once he chokes a little.

Fwiw even when I feel a let down, I can't get it to 'spray into' anything, when he stops nursing it stops flowing. I've expressed some but it takes forever to quit being a firehose & by then he's starved & beside himself.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if he's getting enough feedings in, and then the last week he's started sleeping all night & only doing a tiny comfort nurse about 2 a.m.

Should I be waking him up to eat at night? I counted today & he got in 'about' 7 feedings. I say about because a lot of times he nurses a bit & then screams so I have to walk to comfort him..then he plays a little then nurses some more.

Eta: He does wet plenty of times throughout the day & isn't lethargic or showing any signs of dehydration. Just a lot of fussiness because he wants to nurse & gets drowned instead.

Have you tried block feeding to reduce the choking? That would be keeping baby on one side per feeding or block of time. Normally no you would not need to wake a baby of that age. Is his weight gain okay? Plenty of wet and dirty diaper? At least 8 nursings in 24 hours is ideal. Maybe try offering to nurse more frequetly during the day and evening using the same breast several times.
