almost 6 and coming back into my bed?

Okay, maybe I should Xpost this in the family bed forum, but here goes. We still co-sleep with our 3 year old, who I'm trying to encourage to share a room with his almost 6 yr old brother. Now the 6 yr old is constantly coming into our bed, after my early rising to work dh is gone, waking up the rest of us and keeping us all up. I'm going nuts! After this many years we should be sleeping better than this. What's up?

My 6 yr old was sleeping well and happily in his own bed for years, but now he's waking us all up. I like to encourage him to come into our bed if he's having a bad dream, etc., but neither the 3 yr old or I can function without a good night's sleep.

Anyone have this happen and what did you do??

Thanks!

Maybe he is not tired anymore and he needs an alternate activity or a later bedtime so he will stay engaged or asleep until everyone else is ready for bed. When my dd wakes up she stays awake and energetic until she lays down at night and falls asleep right away, she just can't lay back down and fall asleep again and never has been able to. Sometimes she can lay down again but even when she is trying to stay quiet and still her body just doesn't stop moving. Your ds may also be hearing a lot of scary Halloween stories from friends at school or in the neighborhood and that may be what is driving him to want to be closer to everyone else.

It sounds like she doesn't need as much sleep as you're estimating.
So yeah, either she gets a later bedtime, the rest of you wake up earlier, or you teach her how to turn on cartoons herself in the morning or something.
