Making fragrance "sticks"? Is it possible?

Ok, so I have seen and like the "fragrance sticks" - those vase like containers with liquid with eo's with the sticks that absorb and then diffuse into the room the scent.

But, I have doubt that the store bought versions are natural or even if there are actual eo's.

These seem like they should be pretty easy to make, BUT I have no idea what liquid to use! Anyone have any idea? Either of how to make my own OR where to buy one that really is natural?
