welcome, kelilah. Post about it for as long as you need to.

no clue about the mikvah, and i'm running out the door so I can't look right now.

Thanks, I checked Chabad and found one! I sent them an email and hopefully they'll let me immerse once I stop bleeding. It's far too cold and windy out to take the lake/ocean/river route, LOL. (I used to be THM observant but it was years ago and I lived in a tropical climate then.)

At least here, I think you can use the chabad mikvah, if you are jewish and it is a "traditional" use of the mikvah in their eyes. (Which I beleive after bleeding after a miscarriage, which is what I assume you mean by after your done bleeding, would be). I'm glad to have a community mikvah (which I didn't learn about until I was discussing it with some people at my conservative synagogue, it doesn't show up online at all) that can be used by jews in the community for what they need, not only specific uses.

I hope that works for you!

Mostly posting to subscribe, but if no one minds my asking, I would also greatly appreciate a mi shebeirach - my Hebrew name is Kelilah bat Devorah. (I promise to stop posting about my miscarriage very soon, argh.)

And would anyone happen to know where to find an indoor mikvah in or around Portland, OR?
Kelilah, that is my sister's Hebrew name...well, before she converted to Christianity.

Anyways, I haven't seen any of your other posts and I've been keeping away from the loss forums for a while because it is very triggering for me, but just so you know, I have been there and I am so so so very sorry for your loss. Baruch Dayan HaEmet. HaShem gave you a beautiful and extremely holy little spirit and it was only for a short time. HaShem is crying with you. I'm sending you lots of love and hugs as you walk back into the light on your journey.

Welcome Kelila and I'm sorry for your loss.

My Mom's home from the hospital again, hopefully for good this time! Now she needs IV antibiotics for another 6 weeks.

kelilah - mikvah.org is an online directory for mikvaot worldwide. It's been very helpful. May you heal in your time.

Ruth - great about your mom!

Welcome Kelilah! I'm sorry for the loss of your babe - I had a miscarriage in July, so you're among friends. Give yourself whatever time you need to heal - we'll be here.

Ruth, good to hear your mom's home - if nothing else, it should help her spirits to be home.

Alicia! How are you feeling? You're due in January, right?

Keliklah, I'm sorry for your loss.

It's interesting you post about Portland, OR. That's a place where I keep getting drawn to. I feel such a need to move there, everything (except for the Jewish life and being away from family) about it sounds great.

Tell me about it, I would love to hear. We keep revisiting the idea, and it would be quite possible for my DH to get a job there. But we kept getting held back by the above-mentioned factors. Want to convince me otherwise?

Thank you all so much.

As for Portland, well, I love it as I love noplace else. I grew up in the South and I love my roots there, but I never felt like I was home until I came to Portland. We're a green, bicycle-friendly, pedestrian-friendly, extremely livable city with excellent public transport, lots of great local breweries, terrific climate (yes, I love the rain)... everyone has a garden and births at home and supports local businesses and farmers' markets. There's enough of a Jewish scene here for me - mostly on the other side of the river though, unfortunately - and a lovely airport if I want to see my family. There's gorgeous, rocky, windy ocean just a couple hours away, a year-round snowy mountain 45 minutes away, and beautiful forest in every direction.

Really, the question would be why NOT come to Portland.

Hi Sara Technically I'm due in late december, but who knows. I'm feeling good! Getting big, very tired, still adjusting to life on the east coast.
How about you??

kelilah - your post makes me want to move to Portland
