Looking into a multivitamin for my 3 yr. old. Does anyone use Mercola's children multivitamins and/or the krill oil?
Thoughts?
TIA!

We do use this children's multi.
And the Vitamin D spray.
I haven't tried the krill oil but I really love his other stuff.

I didn't know Mercola made a childs multi! Yay! I've been searching for so long for a decent one. Do they taste like candy? My daughter won't eat them if they taste like candy or to sweet. I tried the Nordic Berries multi with her and she wouldn't eat them cuz they tasted like candy.

Not at all. Especially compared to most other kid's chewables. The Nordic Berries are super sweet aren't they? Mercola's aren't anywhere near that sweet.

Yeah, I have both of them for my daughter who is 23 months old. She loves eating the multivitamin--she never had a problem getting that one down at all. I tasted it, and its sweet because it has xylitol. The krill oil on the other hand I'm still trying to figure out how to get that down her. I had her on Radiant Life's regular cod liver oil since she was 5 months old and she was taking that right off the spoon all along, but since the cod liver oil news of the synthetic vitamins came out earlier this year, I realized that we have to make a switch. I do have the fermented cod liver oil, but I know she won't like the taste of it (who does?) so I wanted to try giving her the krill oil because its much milder. I've been breaking open the krill oil capsules and trying to sneak it into bananas (her favorite fruit), but she notices the taste and spits it out. So, I'm still trying to figure out how to get her EFAs, vitamin A & D into her...

I asked what the rec's were and they said 4 yrs on the kids multi's and the krill oil for kids and that it's due to the ability to chew well (for the multi) and swallow a gel cap (for the krill) - not b/c of the ingredients. I've been using both for kids 16 mos and up and she said many ppl do, but that they are bound legally to advise parents to check all supplements with pediatrician etc. But their own age-based recs for 4 and up are based on the average child's ability to physically take the supplements, i.e chewing and swallowing.

Im really annoyed that Dr mercolas multi for kids doesnt contain Vit D. We do have Vit D drops at home, but sometimes its more convenient to have a multi with D. Its kind of strange that he is worried about D overdose considering he is (i thought) one of the biggest advocates of Vit D supplementation.

He is, I think.
I know - it would be convenient - *however* I do understand it - it's like iron in multi's. We gotta be careful w/ the fat solubles. So many kids are deficient in Vitamin D, but if a child isn't, you wouldn't want them in their multi. I'm actually glad they don't contain iron or D I like to do those separate if needed.

In the video on Mercola's site, he states that he doesn't put Vitamin D in his multi because people and kids all require different amounts of it. And you need to get a blood test to figure out how much of it you need. (or your child)

Right but, now there are many children im sure that are taking his multi and arent getting ANY Vit D. Personally, I think some D is better than none. I highly doubt anyone can OD on like 400IU of D in a multi. Studies show that pretty much everyone is deficient in Vit D. Thousands of years ago, people were outside all the time, and now people are in school/work indoors all the time, therefore i do believe the idea that most everyone is deficient.
Well whatever, I just know i wont be buying the childrens vitamin.

I know this is an old thread, but I was just looking into Mercola's vitamins for my 3-year-old and I'm confused.  From what I see, there is D in the vitamins, a form of D3 of 2000 iu for 2 tablets.  Did he add D to the product sometime after this thread, or am I totally reading the label wrong?  Also, I called two times and got two different responses as well regarding age, one rep said 6 and the other 4.  But they did say it was because of the ability to chew the vitamin. Doesn't 2000 iu per day sound like a lot for a small child, though?

We prefer these multi-vitamins from Dr. Eisenstein.  They have probiotics and a heavy dose of vitamin D per serving.  They also contain stevia instead of sugar, which I prefer for my kids.

I just looked at those. They look good. How old are your kids that take it? How does it taste? My son is 3 and I wonder about the amount of D3. I know it's probably what we're supposed to be giving our kids, but I know you can overdose on D, so it makes me curious as to if 2000 is too much, especially in the summer when he is getting D from the sun. Any idea? I'm learning as I go:)

My kids are 11, 7, 5, and 3 1/2.  The youngest two take 1 a day.  My oldest is already taking the 5,000 IU pills (swallowing them).  My 7 year old takes 2 a day.  I don't worry about the amount of vitamin D in the summer.  They haven't overdosed yet.  You could always go every other day or just take multivitamins without vitamin D3 on the days you plan to be outdoors in a swimsuit during peak hours if you're really worried about it.  :)

The taste they had to get used to.  They were used to gummies before this and were like "This is weird."  But they got used to them quickly.  It took me bribing them at first with echinacea/zinc gummies if they took their multivitamin, but that only lasted for like a week.  We ran out and they didn't care.  Now they beg for their vitamins every day, even my oldest.  They love them.
