Is it true that co-sleeping causes babies to be more nasally and increase risk of SIDS?

I ask because i co-sleep with my 7 week old..have since he was born, and sometimes he will wake up nasally and sound stuffed up. I make sure when i put him with me that his face isnt too covered, but it doesnt always work. He's woken up stuffed up only a few times..and it seems to be the same times that i wake up stuffed up too....coincidence or should i be concerned?

I wouldn't be concerned - I wake up stuffy sometimes, and sometimes my son does too. As long as it clears up during the day I don't worry about it.

Co-sleeping doesn't increase the risk of SIDS either to my knowledge.

I don't think I would worry about the stuffy nose thing. Do make sure that the blankets are not up over his face though. DH and I had separate blankets for the first little bit as to not pull the blanket over DD's face.

Babies sometimes get kind of snuffly at that age. Is it possible that there's something in your room that could be irritating both of your nasal passages? I find I get stuffy if it's too dry in our room, and we've just started needing to run our humidifier again.

There's actually evidence that cosleeping reduces the risk of SIDS. There's a Mothering "Cosleeping" reprint all about that.
