I had been having mild episodes of prodromal labor from 4-8 in the evenings all week, Friday was no different. Only instead of puttering out on Friday, around 9 pm, I felt a pop with one and started to feel "real" contractions wrapping around my back and hips.
Given my history of fast labors, we were totally prepared to UC and planned as much with the midwife (I UC'd with my last baby.) My dh called the midwife after the second contraction to let her know and she was on her way.
At 9:28, I began pushing. The midwife arrived 10 minutes later and 10 minutes after that, the baby arrived!
She was born with her hand up on her cheek, which made pushing her out a bit more difficult, and had her cord around her neck. Even with that, I managed to walk away with a very minimal superficial tear requiring no stitches!
Autumn Elizabeth was born at 9:48 pm - after 48 minutes of labor. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20-3/4 inches long. She's pure delight!
It was a great labor, great birth, and post-partum has been pretty delightful as well. Dh has taken to the kitchen and planned an international feast for the entire week.
