Just freaked out DH

He's 100% on board with the HBAC (his mom all 6 babies at home) but is really clueless about what to expect. He won't read books, but I'm making him watch YouTube videos very soon so he can see how natural childbirth can make women act. I'd like some online tutorials or diagrams (he likes pictures) or some other really good source of information on how a woman's body actually goes through the various stages of labor and gives birth. Anyone know where I can find easy-to-follow Birth 101 info for DH?

He said I made birth sound like a battle we were going into.

Well, it almost is!

My husband just had us sit down and make our game plan. Down to the very specifics of what if this, and what if that. He wanted to be sure to be on the same page as me.

i plan to show mine some homebirthing videos too - the good ones on youtube are higly rated with millions of views anyway.

we just watched this video, which i ordered online from this guy's site. the production value is low, and i thought it would turn my husband off, but the content was really fantastic. at first you think, is this only for people trying to decide whether to do home birth? but the interviews end up going all the way through to the cutting of the cord . it's all interviews, no videos or pictures of births, but a few stills of dads with their newborns.

we both thought it was great! i also have orgasmic birth in my netflix cue.

if he won't read books, will your husband read birth stories? my other plan is to cull some really readable ones, that show different scenarios and some with transfers, for mine to read. he figures that he wants to be as prepared as possible, and is happy to think of me as the one sorting and filtering for the best info out there for us both.

Nope. I tried. He has to see how things work (an engineer).

Thanks for the link, I'll check into it!

I have a husband that won't read as well.

With my daughter's pregnancy, I read and researched like a crazy person. I found that if I took the time to read the important parts to him, or reiterate the things that I found to be extremely important, that he would then intently listen to me.

The more info I read/reiterated to him, the more on board he became with the homebirth and supporting me.

After our daughter was born, he actually became a HUGE homebirth advocate to other daddies! I was really shocked by that! He has also since jumped on board and begun advocating for many other things that we choose to do in raising our children. It really makes me feel proud to be his wife.

All of this to encourage you to hang in there. The more he learns (even if just tidbits from you, or observing the things that you do) the more he will come around and even possibly advocate.
