H1N1 vaccine for pregnant me...

This may have already come and gone as a thread... but I'm four months pregnant. I really dislike the flu season annual vaccine, because I never get it, I don't get sick (even when I lived in a dorm, which is like a petri dish), but everyone else who gets one, gets sick!

So, being pregnant and there being a kind of scare with the H1N1 virus, I'm feeling more anxious about it.

To put the icing on the cake, my little 7 year old cousin recently contracted the H1N1 virus, though she does NOT live by me, nor will I come into contact with her throughout my pregnancy. But its putting my family's eyes on me with that hard-cold-stare.... like, Libby... just GET the dang vaccine already.

Anyhoo... what are your feelings about this vaccine for adults?

I'm 25 years old... I don't have a job where I come into contact with different people... just the same four women (who don't have kids) everyday. And then home. I go to a gym a few days every week though.

Please don't get the shot. I am pregnant too, so I know your fear of the flu.

I am more afraid of the adjuvants (poisons) in the vaccine, and what they could do to me or the baby. Just because the news and the CDC claim the flu shot is safe, does not make it true!

there are a lot of threads right now on H1N1 and vaccination. I know it's scary for pregnant women- I'm pregnant myself and my in-laws are like "Why aren't you getting the vax? 7 out of 10 women with h1n1 die!!" (but that statistic is wrong- it's like 1 out of 25. still not good, but not 7/10) Anyways- I weighed the benefits versus the risk. There's a CDC page that admits that H1N1 has mutated, but the vaccine "should" still work. Well, obviously they've been wrong inthe past about seasonal vaccines so I'm not sure why I should believe them about this one. They also admit that they're not laboratory confirming every H1N1 case- just assuming that if it's flu it's h1N1.. So the vaccine, even if effective against H1N1, may not be effective against the virus that people are getting and dying from because they're not even positive it's H1N1. So those, at best, are the benefits. The risks are that the vaccine hasn't been tested on pregnant women, and it was a mock vaccine that was used in other trials. They're not recommending the vaccine for infants under 6 months, but aren't I carrying a child under 6 months?
