Ergo and sitting?

I've been using a MT, or Moby mostly and just got my Ergo. I have a almost 6mo but she's small. Anyway I used to have an ergo with my toddler and never sat down with her...I'm so used to being able to do stuff then sit for a while when babe is sleeping...I can't seem to sit comfortable with her on front in the Ergo. Is this typical of this carrier? I might need to switch to the MT for at home. Where is the waist strap supposed to sit and how tight should it be? Thanks!

I can't sit with LO in the Ergo. His legs get in the way.

I don't know if there's a way it "should" fit, but I sit in mine for short periods--to eat dinner, rock the baby, relax for a few minutes. I keep the waist strap right where my pants ride--as if it were my belt. But I can see where a MT might be more comfy for reclining.

I tried my friend's Ergo the other day. Had my 4mo on my back and was able to sit very comfortably for about 1/2 hr, with the waist strap basically snug on the top of my hips. Don't know about the front tho.

Definitely try hiking the carrier up a bit and tightening the arm straps so you can sit comfortable. The way I wear it (on my back, DS is 2.5) is very low on my hips, so sitting is not easy on a regular chair/couch - but if he is sleeping, re-adjusting the carrier higher is possible because I don't need to carry the weight around, iykwim.

For a front carry, try sitting with your knees lower than your hips, so that there's room for the baby and her legs. Something like a big exercise ball or one of those Gaiam exercise ball chairs if it's something you need to do on a regular basis.

But in general, SSCs in a front carry aren't the easiest for sitting down/standing up -- I like them much better for when you're going to be up and around.
