chunei bobbing head question

i love, love, love my chunei (ihosa), but have a sleeping babe question. my DS is nearly 10mo now & when he falls asleep his head flops backwards. we have the headrest attached, but he's too tall for it now. if i make sure his arms are under the straps & not over, this keeps him from bobbing back & forth too much, but doesn't fully fix the problem.

he sleeps really solidly & has his best naps in the chunei, so it doesn't seem to bother him! but it bothers me. and just about anyone else who's around us as they're always jumping up to move his head!

has anyone sewn a sort of hood that supports the head while napping? one that can go up or down depending on if the baby is awake or not? (& one that you can control while babe is strapped to your back) i know some of the koreanbaby ones have hoods, but they don't actually look like head support.

i'm trying to figure out how to make it work because in all other ways i really love this carrier.

thanks!

hi, have you tried playing around with the headrest?
you are slide it higher to lengthen the body of the carrier..
i have not tried to sew a hood but i think this idea would be good.
maybe a hood which is like the ergo with the snaps attaching onto the shoulder straps. HTH

i agree about pulling the headrest up - it can slide up the shoulder straps a good ways to support a taller baby. i have a 17 month old who's quite tall for her age and i can still get head support when she's sleeping by doing that.

i think you certainly could sew a sleeping hood onto it. i'd suggest sewing it onto the headrest instead of the body of the carrier, so that if you want to sell it you can pull the stitching out of the headrest and it won't be noticable when worn. also if you're wearing baby at a time you know he's not going to fall asleep, you can remove the headrest (and thus the sleep hood) entirely, so it won't be in your way when it's not in use.
