$300 budget - tell me which grain grinder to buy!

Something that will last for many years, all metal mechanical parts, preferably no filters to replace... Something good and dependable. Your suggestions please?

I do have the Wonder Mill Junior (hand mill) but it takes 30 minutes to produce half a cup of flour and my daily sourdough bread recipe calls for 3 cups, so needless to say I gave up using it Wonder if I can Ebay my hand mill to help fund the electric one, lol...

I have heard a lot of good things about the Jupiter mill, as far as longevity.
Personally, due to tight budget, and already having a Bosch mixer, I bought the Family Mill that hooks to it.
It also can be used manually if we have power outages. No filters, but lots of plastic parts.
When it no longer works, I want to get the Golden Grain Grinder.
New, they cost double what your budget is, but maybe you can find one that has been refurbished.

My sil has the NutriMill, and is very happy with it. Seems to have no issues with upkeep.

I'm happy with my Family mill with the Jupiter motor. It's fast, keeps the flour cool, adjusts from a course crack to relatively fine flour (not quite as fine as store-bought, but good enough for anything I make), and has been durable. I've had it for about 7 years, it's had occasional heavy use. The grinding parts are all stainless steel. I had to replace the fuse once, burned it out trying to grind sesame seeds with the nut butter attachment, but that was easy (standard fuse from the auto parts store).

Ok so Family Mill Jupiter - http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com/fam...ain_mills.aspx Is it this one? Looks like the motorized base with grain attachment is $259 with free shipping. Sweet! Is there a better price elsewhere?

BTW - if I make bread with 100% fresh-ground whole grain flour, will the resulting bread be heavy and dense (as compared to white flour)?

NutriMill - http://www.milkandhoneyfarm.com/sales/mill.html $240 and free shipping. Woohoo!! Really informative review of NutriMill here (she also mentions a few other mills that she didn't think were as good) http://www.breadmachinedigest.com/re...grain-mill.php

A bunch more reviews here (in the comments section) http://www.passionatehomemaking.com/...er-review.html

Apparently Sally Fallon recommends the Jupiter mill? Anyone know why?

I"m going to get a grain mill soon. I just need one so very much so I can easily and affordable bake with sprouted flours.

Do people still stand behind what they posted? Does anyone else have anything to add? Thanks!

I'm looking for one too. Does the Jupiter mill work for difficult things like teff, amaranth and corn?
