Yay! The July DDC is open! Anyone else out there?

I guess I'll be the first to post here. If I go by the first day of my last period, my EDD comes up as July 1st. If I go by my ovulation day, it tells me June 30th. With my daughter I went 3 days past my EDD, so I think it's more likely I will have a July baby. I'm going to hang out in both DDCs, though.

Anyone else around? I know it's still a little early...

Me!!! I just PM'ed abimommy with the request to open our DDC. I was stalking to see it open I think we're first! My EDD by my ovulation day is July 1. I haven't looked up by LMP yet.

Me too!
Like bjorker, I'm either June 30th or July 1st - but I don't like the idea of potentially being the last one still preggo in the June DDC, so I think I'll make July my home!

Thanks for getting the DDC ball rolling. I was stalking too.

LOL, glad I wasn't the only one.
I like the idea of being a little bit ahead instead of a little bit behind, so I might hang more in this DDC as well. Then again, I'm so excited and post-happy about all this that I think I have plenty to say to be an active member of both DDCs, heh.

I am thinking of starting a "getting to know you/due date" thread like the one that is a sticky in the June DDC.

I am due July 5th, from both my LMP and my ovulation date. This is my third little one, and we just found out today. Very excited

just got our BFP tonight! I'm due either July 1st or 3rd, (ovulation temping was problematic, it was one of those 2 days).

It's funny, I'm only 10dpo, but knowing we're pregnant already. I don't feel in the slightest bit pregnant yet.

We have an appointment with the midwife on Tuesday, to start doing the bloodwork (checking to see if the hcg doubles in 48 hours). I have a history of miscarriage, so we're trying (and failing) to only be cautiously optimistic. In reality, though, we're ecstatic!

I told you this was our month!

So, who are you using for prenatal care? I'm already signed up with Heike Doyle at Puget Sound Birth Center.

Interesting that you mention that. I'm going to interview the midwives at PSBC's Lake Washington location, but they told me that they all 3 work as a team and I wouldn't have any one of them as my midwife. I'd schedule appts with all three of them, and get whomever was on-call for my birth. I'm a little put off by that, but at the same time I've heard GREAT things about them, and Val in particular. So now I'm curious how it is that you have one midwife instead of a team from the same practise. Do you know anything about that? Do the Eastside midwives do things different? Hrrm... I'm confused.

Eastside Midwives and Lake Washington Midwives practice in the same location for prenatals that happen in the office. Yes, you would have one of the three midwives if you go with whichever Heike Doyle is part of, but I really loved her, and have heard great things about all three of them. Plus, they're getting a ND in December, which is a HUGE plus for me. I think Heike said that most of my appointments would be with her, but that I would see the other two, as well.

Since I want a birth center birth, PSBC is really our best option. I don't want to use Cascade Birth Center in Everett, because they transfer to Providence (I have, even in a low-risk pregnancy, an increased chance of needing a non-emergency c-section for a condition that I have), and Providence is not terribly natural-birth friendly. Even a friend of mine who used Providence's own CNMs ended up pushed into a c/s. And Eastside Birth Center is a bit too far, plus if you have to transfer, it's to Valley, which is all the way in Renton. The Seattle birth Centers are too far if it's rush hour (Cora was born FAST!)

I don't want a homebirth, because in case of emergency transfer, Providence and Evergreen are just too far, and I don't trust Stevens even a little bitty bit.

If you're looking for a local hb mw, there is one here in Lynnwood (I can't remember her name) who is also a ND, and Apricot (here on MDC) is a mw in Kenmore. IIRC, they both have individual practices.

Yeah, you're thinking of Brandy Ross. I have a friend that used her and loved her, and we've seen her for some naturopathic care. But as far as prenatal care for me, I'm not sure she'd be a good fit *for me*. I'll ponder my options some more though. I've just heard so many good things about PSBC, plus they're on the way home from MS which is good for dp getting to [some of my] appointments.

So what hospital do they go to? That was going to be one of my questions for them. Does it just depend on where I am? DP had GREAT experiences at Providence in the ER and for heart-related stuff, but I hadn't looked into their birth info, so that's good to know (I haven't heard good things about Cascade birthing center anyway, btw). I wouldn't touch Stevens for ANYTHING with a thousand-foot pole, so I will have to ask them about that. There is NO way in hell I will go there. For anything. Ever. My current theory about them is that they are an undercover death operation. /ahem

My birth with Aurelia was super slow though, so I'm not too worried about having to rush anything. I had full-on contractions for over two days. I could do without that this time around. Oy.

Well, I'll interview whomever I get from the Lake WA team and go from there. I'm doing that on Nov 4th.

*snort* yeah, pretty much.

The midwives from PSBC transfer to either Evergreen (which is conveniently a few blocks away) or UW. The nice thing about Evergreen is that they're a certified Baby-Friendly Hospital. Their c/s rate is high (2% above the average for our area), but that's partly because they're so popular a place to do homebirth transfers - so you have a lot of non-c/s births that never got there (because they happened at home or the birth center) so don't count in their stats. Also, they have some of the best Maternal-Fetal medicine (perinatologists who specialize in high-risk pregnancies) in the area who practice and deliver there, so that skews their stats as well.

One of the things I really liked about Heike is that she said she never does internal exams during a routine pregnancy and birth. As in, not even during labor, unless the mom really really wants one! Compared to the OB I had with Cora, who was always sticking his cold-a-- speculum up me every week, that sounds like heaven!

You know what would be funny? Since we TTCed together, got pregnant the same darn day, and we live so darn close, and our DHs both work at MS, we should see if we can get appointments in the same time frame, and go have lunch with our DHs at their yummy MS cafeterias, and make an afternoon of it (maternity clothes shopping, perhaps?).

If you want an u/s at any point during your pregnancy, I have a close personal friend who is one of the best u/s techs around (seriously, she's always getting offers to join other practices), and she's pretty conversant with us crunchy types (I have her all broken in!)

That's a great idea! What building is your DH in? That'd be hilarious if they're close. I think mine is in 37. I am totally down for that.

I haven't made up my mind about u/s but most likely I'll get the standard one around the 20w mark. I will let you know! Thanks!

I have no idea what building he's in now. He was at RedWest, but they just moved him.

I'm so excited that this DDC is open. From my LMP, my due date is July 1st, and I agree that I'd rather be in the earlier timeframe with this DDC so that I won't be stressing in the June DDC.

I'm meeting with Homefirst on Tuesday to discuss a homebirth with them. They're a physician attended home birth practice, which makes my husband more comfortable. It'll be interesting what we hear from our families as we move forward.

Right now I'm just trying to keep myself thinking positive and getting excited. This is my first pregnancy, but my mom had 10 miscarriages before she had my brother and me, so I'm a bit worried. I'm healthy and in good shape and have no reason to assume anything will go wrong. I decided this morning that I need to get to the mindset of sending all the positive thoughts/vibes out and no negative thoughts. So yay, I'm excited and going to have a baby!!!!

Hello all!

Anna Banana popping in to say hello! This is my 4th pregnancy and I knew I was pregnant within, oh about an hour of intercourse... so, the last few weeks have been full of lots of little confirmations of my hunch. I'm doing everything in my power to be positive and peaceful about this, as my last pregnancy ended in heartbreak. Still, finding out last night that I am in fact expecting a baby was a joyous shock.
I hope that being a part of this due date club is as fullfilling as it has been in the past. I am still friends with women who were pregnant in my first due date club back in 2004. It's hard to believe that our great big, grown up 5 year olds were once twinkle's in our nauseated eyes...
