What books do I read to learn how to EC with my coming baby?

I found an EC website and ordered a couple of books form inter library loan from it. Are there any book you recommend to learn about EC-ing?
Also- once I read the books will I just know what to do?!
I hear it is ideal to start EC right at the start with a newborn, is this right?
I guess this is a where do I begin question so I am prepared to do EC when my baby arrives this winter?

Infant Potty Basics by Laurie Boucke is concise enough to read quickly, but it still seems to cover every aspect (it's an abridged version of her much longer, more detailed book). I just recently started with my 3 month old son after reading it. I found that it answered just about all of my ?s. Now I just need to commit to taking him to the bathroom more often!

I read that one and really liked it. Concise, short, well written. I've also read great things about "Diaper Free Baby" by Christine Gross-Loh, which sounds like it presents a more relaxed approach that I think can benefit all of us perfectionists who try it out.

The book "Diaper Free! The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene" by Ingrid Bauer was passed around a bunch of my friends and we have all had great success. Most of us started later (me the latest at 8 mos and only boy in the group) and everyone has had great success. Now that I know how easy and rewarding EC is, I'll start earlier with next baby but probably not right from birth. Anyway, this book is very thorough and discusses baby hygiene practices through the ages and in other cultures which is very interesting and inspiring.

I also read "Diaper Free Before Three" by Jill Lekovic. The approach is similar but it is a much lighter read and not at all intimidating if you are the type to get turned off my too much info. If you have to give a book to a reluctant partner, in-law, or day-care provider, I would recommend it (especially if they are mainstream as it is not at all crunchy in it's packaging or writing).

I found The Diaper Free Baby very easy to read. It starts with some general information and then is broken into sections by age so, if you're starting later you can skip the newborn section, or if you're starting right at the begining you can just work through each age as it happens.

I read Ingrid Bauer's book, Laurie Brouke's book, and Christine Gross-Loh's book, and I think Gross-Loh's is the most practical and accessible. It's great. Makes EC very practical and doable at any age.
