What Christmas/holiday movies...

Thread Starter
...do you like for a 3 y.o. and 6 y.o.? Taking a cue from the holiday traditions thread that was recently in Parenting, I want to give a family gift of a new seasonal movie that we can watch together.

I think the only one we have now is the original (animated) Grinch. I love Elf, but that's definitely not going to be good for the kids. What else is out there that's halfway decent?
thanks,

i don't know how kid friendly they are, but we love all the Muppet Christmas movies. Plus the Charlie Brown one.

At 3, I'm assuming you don't want anything too intense or with too much plot?

I love the Charlie Brown one too, like the previous poster. Frosty the Snowman is another classic.

Also, The Snowman, based on the book by Raymond Briggs, is a beautiful wordless British one that we love at our house.

Last year, my kids (nearly 3 and 6) loved The Santa Clause movies. They're some of my favorites, too.

They also like Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer, and both versions of The Grinch, but The Santa Clause (1, 2, and 3) are all the most popular ones we have.

The original The Grinch is the best Christmas movie ever in my humble opinion! But I second the Muppets ones. Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas is not available on DVD, as far as I know, or I'd say that one too.

I absolutely loved the original Miracle on 34th Street as a child-- I haven't tried it on my own kid yet. She's liked various versions of A Christmas Carol, but it's a bit wordy and scary for a three year old.
