I was looking up what a toddler actually is and saw this---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toddler
Check out the 7th physiologic change. Isn't this what we all know is NOT true. My baby goes when I cue! And has started to hold it.

If you scroll down more it talks about toilet training. ugh, i am so glad I found out about ECing!!!

Clickable link. (I hope)

Wow. So they decided that the ability could only develop then found something physiological that happens about that same time?

Maybe we're making our babies' mycelin sheaths develop faster!

Hey, did someone change it from here?

"Urinary and anal sphincter control becomes possible with complete myelination of the spinal cord (actually, babies are born with the ability to control their urinary and anal sphincter muscles. Check the page on "Elimination Communication" for more details.)"

I always find the "They have no nerves yet / the nerves don't get to their brains until [insert convenient age]" baffling - I can't think of another situation where nerves 'grow' to an area? Well, yes, they can be inconsistent in their mastery, but the nerves are there as we all know.

The complaints (on articles / blog comments etc) that I love the best are the ones that say (after and article on EC and then responses from people that have done it) "Impossible - my textbook told me so - babies have no nerves, it is impossible" YAWN.
