Blight questions :(

I'm pretty sure that my tomatoes have blight. They may have had it for a while, and I was subconsciously in denial, but I'm not sure...anyway, here are my questions:

-Can I still eat some of the tomatoes that seem to be unaffected? If a tomato only slightly affected, can the rest of it be eaten?

-I stupidly planted my potatoes relatively near to my tomatoes. They're most likely gonners, right? I admit that I haven't looked at them for a while, and I was wondering where the flowers suddenly went... (In my defense, it got REALLY hot here for a while, and I was having a really hard time with the heat and being pg; I felt like passing out everytime I set foot outside)

-Do I need to be worried about my other plants? Near the tomatoes, I have tomatillos, chili peppers, and basil. Lots of weeds too, but those don't seem to be affected. My squash patch is probably twelve feet from the edge of the tomato garden.

-What precautions do I need to take for next year. I remember reading that this year's plants need to be burned; is that correct? Do I need to avoid planing on that same plot for a certain amount of time?

I'm not a mater growing expert, but I have a plant or two that I think has blight as well so I commisserate with you! Mine are in pots so I have been able to keep a few plants far enough away to be safe, and they are doing wonderfully.

I think with blight you need to not plant anything in the nightshade family in or near that area for 2-3yrs? (someone will know better than me I'm sure) but you can plant other things there from what I understand as blight only affects those things in that family. (too bad about weeds.. what I wouldn't give for a weed blight lol) You cannot compost the plants, what I've done with mine is put them in the outdoor household rubbish bin so there's no chance of it hanging around. I'm sure burning would do the trick as well?

Dunno if tomatillo's are susceptible to blight... they aren't actually tomatoes right? (know nothing of them!) Good luck with your taters, not sure how far they need to be to be safe!
