Question about the Vax article in the July/August 2009 issue

On page 43 of the July/August 2009 issue is this statement:

"In fact, polio became so rare here that even the most staunch proponents of vaccines admit that there was a greater risk of contracting and being paralyzed by polio from the vaccine (which used to be a live virus sdministered orally) than contracting the naturally occurring disease itself. 17

I am looking for the reference to this statement. It is labled 17 but at the bottom for 17 it only says lbid - what is lbid??? Where can I find a reference for this statement?

TIA!!!

"Ibid" means the same as the last reference.

Thanks but the one before that doesn't list a reference either. It has another statement and then See Note 8:26-27. What does that mean?

I'd just like to know where that statement came from so I can give someone a link.

Did you locate the notes?

No I didn't. I was hoping there would be something to link us to an article.
I love the article in Mothering but if I give that it will be dismissed coming from one of those wack-a-do crunchy magazines.

There is a dicussion about polio and how the vaccine continues to save our children and without it we would all be crippled. I like the Mothering article because it points out children are more likely to contract polio from the vaccine rather than wild polio but I was hoping for a source of that information.

I am not used to citing articles in that format so I am not 100% certain but my guess would be that she means she found the info on pages 26-27 of the book cited in note #8. Her website is listed at the end of the article - maybe you can contact her & ask though.
