Does your 1year old eat breakfast?

My 13 month old DD sleeps with us. She nurses anywhere between 3 to 6 times a night. She is chubby baby( weighed 27lbs at one year). She eats lunch , snacks and dinner, she won't eat a whole bunch but will eat some food. But she usually doesn't want to eat breakfast. She might take a few bites of toast or some cheerios and after a few minutes signs to nurse. So I just nurse her.
Does anyone's LO also not eat breakfast or is it just mine? Should I try to get more food into her during that meal?

My DD always drank breakfast in bed (nursed) up until just a few months ago. She's almost 4 and is self weaning. She doesn't like to eat food until she's been up a couple of hours, but will drink something. I'm not going to worry about it until she's about to start going to school for the whole day.

You should let your DD self regulate her eating. Her body knows how much food it needs and how much of your milk it needs. Trying to control what a child eats interferes with their ability to listen to their bodies cues and can cause food issues and obesity. As for being a chubby baby, it's normal. A Lot of breast feed LOs go from being very chubby babies to busy thin two year olds.

Thank you for replying.
I am not worried at all about her chubbiness. I love it that she looks the way she looks
It's good to know that she will regulate how much of what she needs to grow

Mine doesn't! She will eat some food for lunch/snacks or dinner, but breakfast usually ends up on the floor and she wants to nurse. Then again, she will barely eat any solids coming from me and will devour whatever it is if Dh feeds her... I just think she associates me with boobie! lol!

My 1 YO also prefers a liquid breakfast.

Mine does but she eats way more than my other two did. She has a runny egg yolk and a glass of raw milk with a raw egg yolk and honey in it plus she nurses twice before breakfast and again after. I wouldn't worry about a 1yo not eating breakfast though, they know when they are hungry and will eat what they need.

Mine barely eats lunch or dinner..and she's a skinny baby! She will eat one-three cheerios and then want to nurse, so I wouldn't worry about it either.

My daughter is close to fifteen months. She usually only has a couple bites at breakfast. If the last time she nursed was a couple hours before we got out of bed (which is kinda rare- usually she nurses while I am still waking up :P) she might have more. Also if we delay breakfast until an hour or two after waking, she will definitely eat more. I've never worried about her not eating except when it seems like she wants to nurse 24/7 which happened for a couple of days earlier this month. She only started really swallowing significant amounts of solid food a couple months ago so we might be going at a different pace, but in general I would not worry because s/he will experience hunger when it has its place!

Ds will be a year on Sunday (omg!) & rarely eats breakfast. He always bf's but if I'm not eating anything or we're in a hurry I don't stress about offering food in the morning as when I do (most mornings) he hardly touches it, if at all.

DS is 13 months and eats breakfast, second breakfast, and sometimes third breakfast!!! He eats grapes and granola when he first wakes up with daddy at 6, then daddy puts him back to sleep. He wakes up around 8 and eats bread with peanut butter or a banana, and then I wake up and DH cooks us all something yummy like eggs and hashbrowns, or pancakes, which ds starts begging for as soon as he smells it cooking But, I'm 7 months pg, and my milk supply is low, so he's got to get his food somewhere! Sometimes he wakes up at 6 and asks for "bancoks" (pancakes) before he's got his eyes open. He's my precious piggy

My 18mo DD still nurses for breakfast, but she'll eat her beloved 'eggies' around ten or so.

We don't do juice, and she'll sometimes drink cows milk. Otherwise she pretty much eats what we eat.

Something I just thought of... If DS is preparing to have a bowel movement in the morning, he won't eat breakfast until he does. He's an afternoon/evening pooper normally ... Perhaps your child is a morning pooper?

It's good to hear that what my DD does in normal! I never try to force feed her breakfast, just offer different things when I'm eating. Sometimes she will take a few bites and sometimes she doesn't.
She does little poops all day( she's been kind of constipated lately ).
Thank you everyone for you replies!

He used to not, but I've recently nightweaned -- well partially nightweaned, and now he does. He doesn't nurse at night until it's after 4a (that's 8 hours after his feeding to go to sleep, so I figure he's probably actually hungry at that point). He nurses off and on until waking up for the day at about 8a. Even with that early morning nursing, he's now eating breakfast. Back when he nursed ALL NIGHT long, he didn't really eat breakfast, though I always offered it.

DD is 19 months and that is how she gets me out of bed--signing and saying "Eat". She likes toast or cereal right away; sometimes eats a lot, sometimes snacks and wants more in an hour or two.

both my 3.5 and 17 mo old prefer to drink breakfast.. my 17 mo old nurses in bed and the 3.5 yr old has a cup of cow milk at 7am .. neither of them will eat anything until at least 9 am .. my 17 mo old DS would be happy to nurse again at that time, but will usually eat a small breakfast if i offer that first.. my DD started drinking th cow milk int he morning when we night weaned and has been doing that ever since..

my 13.5 month old is only just starting to eat breakfast - which might be 1/4 to 1/2 a peach/nectarine, or a 1/4 cup bananas and some cold cereal and milk( maybe another 1/4 cup. Usually our last "night" nurse is at 7 am. She's just not a big eater.
