I was inspired to try a homebirth with my second child by you ladies. My first was born in hospital with midwives. It was a great birth, with a pretty OK (as these things go) hospital stay afterwards.
Five years later, expecting my second, I was sure that I want to try for a homebirth - largely from lurking here from time to time.
Six days ago I birthed my daughter at home, attended by midwives. I prepared for the birth and postpartum period by reading threads here (especially those stickied threads!). Your advice was priceless (condom ice packs!!).
Bathing with my daughter in my own tub, nursing her in my own bed, eating homebaked chocolate chip cookies (my DH popped the balls of cookie dough in the oven and we ate them while I was being stitched up - I hope someone appreciates how homey that felt as opposed to being stitched by an OB teaching a resident), retiring with my DH to our clean dry bed .....

I'm so happy for you that you got the birth you wanted. Isn't it blissful to give birth in your own home?
