I'm returning to work in a few weeks and need some advice. I'm an RN and will be working in the hospital. The every other weekend position I applied for had been filled by the time I interviewed, and I was offered a 3 day/week position. This isn't ideal, but I really want to work in this specialty and accepted. I spoke to my manager about my schedule and found out it won't be a fixed schedule. All of the daycare providers I have interviewed have required set days. One person who would care for dd in her home is willing to work with me, but we really prefer a facility rather than someone's home. We want dd around other children (she wouldn't be with the woman who is willing to be flexible) and like that in a facilty there is more accountability. I told my manager that I'm having difficulty with this and she said, "Well let me know what I can do to help." Should I request a set schedule? I got the sense that it's not completely out of the question, but that it's not what they like to do. I'm worried about being too demanding as a new employee. Or should I just go with the provider who offers flexibilty? Although it's not my first choice, it would be a safe environment.
