Prevacid on empty stomach...for constant nurser?

My 7-week-old started Zantac last week but there hasn't been too much improvement. I want to consider Prevacid, but my ped said it has to be taken on an empty stomach, so his recommendation is to see how the Zantac goes. I have another appointment next week and by then will know if we need something stronger.

If I do switch to Prevacid, when would I give it to my constant nurser? He nurses all day long. He doesn't take naps. He snoozes a bit at the breast but wakes every few minutes and latches back on if I've taken him off. If he does space a feeding out, it's every hour at best.

My first was on Prevacid and we just started the newbie on it 4 days ago. I never found a way to do it on an empty stomach. Especially with the newbie. He loooooves his booby and eats constantly.
We are doing the dissolving tabs. I actually put it in a syringe and then express a little breastmilk and draw it up into the syringe. Then I mix it and give it to him. Sometimes he'll be satisfied with just that tiny amount for 15min and then want to nurse, but mostly he just wants to nurse. It seems to be helping already, so I figure I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

I was never told this about Prevacid...I wonder if it really matters? I've never worried about it and it has been pretty effective for DD. Now at 8 mos., I just put the solutab directly in her mouth in 1/4 and grind it up with my fingers in there. We were using the syringe but then she started spitting it everywhere...and they're just one more thing to wash!

My DS had to be on Prevacid for a couple months, and was also a constant nurser. I just gave it to him every morning when we got up... and continued to BF on demand. Never had a problem, and it was a life-saver for his reflux.

My pediatrician prescribed Prilosec instead of Prevacid tonight, and said to just try to get as much of a gap before/after dosing as possible. But it sounds like I don't need to stress about it.

Thanks!
