He gets a ton of gas and I just don't understand it. I haven't noticed a common theme from my diet. I wonder if he's swallowing air when he feeds...but it doesn't really seem possible because he has an air-tight seal on my breast. Baby is 5 weeks old. What do you do to reduce gas and resulting fussiness?

I don't know that you would notice a pattern from your diet, necessarily. If you do an elimination diet it takes 2 weeks, or more, for everything to clear out of you system and baby's.
My dd had colic (intestinal pain/gas) for 7 months, and my 5 week old ds has it too. I am on an elimination diet, day 12, and still hoping that it will help. Other things that can help are:
-chiropractic or cranio-sacral therapy
-catnip tea
-gripe water
-cocyntal (homeopathic)
-"running" the baby's legs and pushing them against the tummy to help get things moving
-massaging the baby's tummy in a rainbow stroke from the lower belly up under the ribs and back down to the lower belly
-making sure to burp them really well after each feeding
Believe me, I've tried it all. Good luck.
