I had my baby too...

I just wanted to share that we had our baby. It's a boy.

Eric Wayne made his grand entrance at 3:43 am on Tuesday, October 6th. (Sorry for being slow to announce.) He weighed in at 10 lbs 8 oz and measured 21 3/4 inches.

My Story
My great friend who lives in Toronto came to town for business and we had a fantastic dinner on the evening of the 5th. I had been having contractions for so long I didn't even pay attention to the ones I'd been having that day. Around midnight I clued in to the fact something was different. At 1 am I called the L&D nurse to see if I might be in labor. This was my 3rd pregnancy, but I had been induced with my other 2. At 2 am I decided it was time to go in. So my BIL came over and we got organized to go. I had some things packed but had to finish. The contractions were 2 to 3 minutes apart but my water was still intact. I live about 30 minutes from the hospital. As we got closer, things started to get more intense and I started to get the pushing sensation. I started to worry. We got to L&D around 3 am. I was admitted and changed. The nurse started hooking up the sensors and I told her that my last baby came fast and I was having the same feelings as I did before she was born. I asked that she check me ASAP. So luckily she did and I was at 9 cm with bulging waters. We had to wait for the OB on call to come in. It was so difficult to wait. We pushed a few times to see if my waters would break but no such luck. The OB (not mine) arrived around 3:30 am. I realized later that the resident wasn't allowed to break the water until the DR arrived even though I told him I was comfortable with him doing so. ha ha ha Once they broke my waters the baby was born quickly. He was very difficult to push. Then they wanted me to push slow. Um...how does one do that??? He crowned at the end of a contraction and that really hurt. I made lots of noise and kept apologizing for being the loud woman down the hall. Once he was born, my pushing difficulty became with good reason. He was huge. My other 2 were 6 lbs 15 oz and 7 lbs 13 oz. He got lots of attention because of his size. We stayed 1 day and overnight at the hospital mostly so I could just have some quiet time with baby. The nurses had to find bigger diapers for him to wear during his stay. The regular cloth diapers wouldn't snap around his legs. My energy recovery is taking longer than with my DD (2nd). I really felt hit by a truck the 2nd day after delivery. I also never got the "birthing high" like I did with DD. I was disappointed about that. Eric was also born with extra digits that dangled off each pinky finger so he's had plastic surgery already. He's a champion nurser and my milk came in record time. My DS (14) loves him. My DD (almost 3) loves him until it hurts so I have to watch her. She really can't be alone with him. Life is starting to return to normal though. I am so grateful that this baby is calmer than my last one. I don't know what I'd do if he was like her.

Thanks for letting me share. This post got longer than I thought it would be.
