I just came across this website devoted to establishing a birthing center in Montérégie (where I live). The movement started in 2006. You can lend your support by signing online, or participating in any future letter-writing campaigns (they held one in May). It's all in French though

That's great! I hope it becomes a reality. My little guy was born at the Gatineau Maison de naissance and it was an amazing experience. Fantastic care, far more caring and thorough than my doctor was prior to transferring to MW. Every woman in every community should have access to this option.

I submitted a form. I'm no where near there, but heck- everyone deserves options when it comes to birthing!
