Kara Esme

Born October 22th @ 4 am
Weighing 8 lbs even!

Also!!! Congrats to Lucia and a big welcome to Malcolm born this morning @ 7 am, 7lbs 13 oz!!!!

Quick birth story:

Labor was pretty rough. Could not get any relief, nothing worked, counterpressure just made me hurt more, the only thing that helped even remotely was pacing the floor. It was an all-nighter, I never even went to bed that evening. In total about a 6 hr labor with 4 hrs of that pretty excrutiating - BUT even though my contractions were strong, they never got very close together so I never realized I was in-transition, and pushing kind of took me by surprise. Felt like I might need to have a BM and realized that wasn't it, lol. Then all the sudden her head was coming down, I managed to slow down a little and ease her head out, but I pushed hard and quick to get her shoulders out (JIC, but it was no problem).

She's kind of little, but really chubby : ) Kara

DP and the kids slept through the whole thing. I woke DP afterwards to help with the clean-up, take a few pics ect., but I really didn't feel like there was any point in getting him up earlier, since there was nothing he could do the help me cope with the pain, and I didn't want to upset him. I was getting really close to my breaking point when she arrived, so I guess that should have been my clue I was in-transition, ha. All in all I'm really happy with how things worked out. I was glad my 21 mo old slept through it because I didn't want him to see his mama hurting and get scared. Big brother Kai is in love with his baby sister, just wants to hold her all the time. His whole face lit up when he saw her and he couldn't stop grinning. Caden is really curious about the baby and hasn't shown a lot of jealousy so far. He's getting over a cold so I haven't let him get too close yet. He's been practicing saying her name, and calling her "sister." I think it's pretty cute

Thanks everyone for all the support! DP is going in to work this weekend for a while but my mom is going to help out with the kids then, so it's going to be fine. Good luck to all of you still waiting for your babies! I hope you get to see them soon!

Yes, thanks. My 2nd no-fuss UC. I feel incredibly blessed.
I added a little UC symbol to my post to clear things up, since I forgot to mention it.

Woo, congrats on the UC! I'm also impressed you didn't wake anyone else up through such an intense labor.

Pardon my ignorance, but how does UC work with the 3rd stage of labor (placenta)? Do you get up and inspect it to make sure it's all come out?

one, I was already "up" since I birthed it in a squatting position and two I usually look at it pretty closely just out of curiosity. It's amazing how unique each placenta is. I think I'd have noticed if any pieces were missing, but I didn't go "hmm, I think I will inspect the placenta for intactness now" lol. Hope that answers your question.
