Born October 22th @ 4 am
Weighing 8 lbs even!

Also!!! Congrats to Lucia (Fyrebloom) and a big welcome to Malcolm born this morning @ 7 am, 7lbs 13 oz!!!!

***Lucia ended up having to transfer to the hospital for pain control after what sounds like 24+ hours of back labor and weeks of prodromal labor. I'm sure she'll be on to tell her story as soon as she can.***

Quick birth story:

Labor was pretty rough. Could not get any relief, nothing worked, counterpressure just made me hurt more, the only thing that helped even remotely was pacing the floor. It was an all-nighter, I never even went to bed that evening. In total about a 6 hr labor with 4 hrs of that pretty excrutiating - BUT even though my contractions were strong, they never got very close together so I never realized I was in-transition, and pushing kind of took me by surprise. Felt like I might need to have a BM and realized that wasn't it, lol. Then all the sudden her head was coming down, I managed to slow down a little and ease her head out, but I pushed hard and quick to get her shoulders out (JIC, but it was no problem).

She's kind of little, but really chubby : ) Kara Esme

DP and the kids slept through the whole thing. I woke DP afterwards to help with the clean-up, take a few pics ect., but I really didn't feel like there was any point in getting him up earlier, since there was nothing he could do the help me cope with the pain, and I didn't want to upset him. I was getting really close to my breaking point when she arrived, so I guess that should have been my clue I was in-transition, ha. All in all I'm really happy with how things worked out. I was glad my 21 mo old slept through it because I didn't want him to see his mama hurting and get scared. Big brother Kai is in love with his baby sister, just wants to hold her all the time. His whole face lit up when he saw her and he couldn't stop grinning. Caden is really curious about the baby and hasn't shown a lot of jealousy so far. He's getting over a cold so I haven't let him get too close yet. He's been practicing saying her name, and calling her "sister." I think it's pretty cute

Thanks everyone for all the support! DP is going in to work this weekend for a while but my mom is going to help out with the kids then, so it's going to be fine. Good luck to all of you still waiting for your babies! I hope you get to see them soon!

Thanks everyone! We're both doing well. My milk came in late fri/early sat so I'm pretty happy about that. She been sleeping a lot better since then. My afterpains are still coming but getting much easier to deal with. I'm a little worried because DP had to take DS2 to the ER last night with a high temp, turns out he has strep. I hope the baby doesn't get it too. I've been tandem nursing them, but washing off with warm water before letting the baby nurse after DS. I don't know if that is enough. Something I never thought about when planning to tandem. I have a little 2nd degree tear and it seems to be healing well. Much smaller than the one I had with DS2. She's a good nurser and seems to be having more alert periods. I love her dark little eyes.
