Halloween handouts

I have no idea if this is the right section for this or not. I am thinking about this from a healthy eating standpoint more than anything else, so here goes.

I am wondering what people are handing out for Halloween. In previous years we've given out cans of pop, which made us quite popular, but I am having a hard time handing out pop since I refuse to buy it normally.

But I am having an impossible time coming up with something even remotely healthy that isn't homemade. At least parents know pop is unhealthy (at least I hope they do) and can take it away from the kids.

The other problem I've run into is that I can't give pop to a one year old - some parents refuse it for their kid anyway, so I've given them nothing.

raisins
pretzels
goldfish
tings
popcorn
all come in little bags for lunches and stuff. I guess it really depends on how many trick or treaters you get to decide the price issue. Although I imagine if you are normally handing out cans of pop you don't get that many trick or treaters. I know they sell tiny containers of playdoh at target and places for halloween passing out, you could have some of those on hand too.

We give party favor sized play-dough or offer them to hang for a few minutes and have some punch and caramel apples or popcorn. It worked out pretty well so that we had a little party on our lawn that kept our kids from caring about getting candy (they came home after getting about a handful) and those who didn't want to moved on with some play-dough.

We are going to be moving the day after Halloween, and we don't have trick or treaters here in the sticks :] We live off a pretty busy rural-ish road, so no one is really going to risk walking.

The kids that live down the dirt road already got little bags with:

Halloween themed light up stamps, stickers, pencils, 1 piece of chocolate each, and little crafts made by DD.

We're doing Yummy Earth Organic Lollipops. Not a health food, obviously, but no dyes or artficial stuff - plus my kids love them.

We will probably only have a couple TOT'ers, as our houses are pretty far apart.
