I just found out that I am expecting. I am in Canada and they just approved the H1N1 vaccine and bought 50 million doses so that everyone in our counrty can have the shot starting with health care workers, pregnant women and kids. Woah. (pregnant women?? what?) I am very cautious about taking anything when I am pregnant let alone a shot with who-knows-what in it and hasn't been tested very long. They are recomending it to all pregnant women.
It reminds me of 1960 when doctors prescribed a drug to pregnant women with nausia and a whole batch of babies born that year and the next were born with major deformities. oops. Luckly my grandmother did not fill her prescription.
So I guess what I am wondering is what are the risks to pregnant women if they get H1N1 and to our babies. Does anyone know the risks to the vaccine as well?
