baby urine leaking onto our mattress

My five month old DS sleeps on his stomach in our king sized tempurpedic bed. Lately, he has been waking up in a puddle of pee. I've tried larger diapers and although I can prevent it some of the time, leaks still happen too often for my comfort.

Does anybody use a waterproof bed pad on their bed? What brand do you use? I want it to be super breathable because he likes to push his face right into the mattress

I am surprised you haven't had this problem before. We needed to use "overnight" disposables for DS.

Cheapo waterproof mats from Babies R Us work fine. Carters makes them and the house brand is larger and cheaper. Just read the label because some are all cotton and some are lined in vinyl.

If you want a higher end version, you can buy organic wool versions as well.

DD does this to us too, I bought a pack of lap-pads from target and when I'm making the bed, I put down a receiving blanket where DD sleeps, and the put 3 lap pads over the blanket, before I put on the sheet. This seems to help.

Huggies makes overnights and I hear Pampers just started to as well. I used G diapers and use 2 at night and that has stopped all leaks for us. I bought a waterproof pad from one step ahead when she was a newborn and puking all night was an issue but it was very scratchy/made us sweat so I folded a sheet and put that over top of it. Still made for lots of laundry but didn't have to strip the whole bed daily. They only make them for twin or full and in order for it to work on my queen the sheet over the top helped it to be tucked in tighly uder the mattress.

is this really a big deal? i mean, some people mind, but i don't. ds does this too, we wake up in a puddle of urine, but it dries, ykwim? it doesn't smell either. our sheets are covered in urine/spit up, but it doesn't phase us...we take showers and change our clothes in the morning, is it any more germy than our bodies being on the sheets letting dead skin cells on the bed?

It worries me when we don't have a waterproof mattress pad underneath the sheet!!

We had to start using overnight disposables too and it's helped a ton. I actually like the new Pampers overnights better - they're less bulky but still do the job. I still have to change him when he's doing a lot of night nursing though.
