toddlers and newborns - Page 2

We're doing pretty well here so far. DH took the 1st week off work and friends brought meals. now my parents are here until nov. 1. They've been taking DS to the park, playing w/ him, cooking, & cleaning. It will be challenging when they leave, but it's also challenging with them here b/c of different parenting ideas.

DS is quite wild right now, much more rough than usual, and isn't listening very well. He's 33 months. He also wants to nurse constantly and starts yelling and breaking down quickly if I don't let him. He doesn't want to eat meals, just nurse, and I keep telling him he needs to eat... My mom is not supportive of the tandem nursing and keeps telling him he's a big boy. I've had to tell her a couple times that it's ok for toddlers to nurse.

Arianna sleeps a lot and is VERY mellow. We are very blessed. (I was the most colicky, inconsolable baby for 3 months, so I was really worried I was going to get a daughter like me!) She is wide awake in the middle of the night for about 1 1/2 hours every night, but she doesn't cry, just nurses for little bits, poops, and looks around. Her breathing is also VERY noisy, mostly at night... I think it is from the wood heat, but I've also read that babies can just be noisy breathers. Her brother was not so noisy though.

Good luck to everyone! Remember to breathe and indulge in chocolates, or whatever your baby's digestion tolerates.

everybody! It will get easier, I know! It has to! Right now we're doing really well 'cause it's still not two weeks and dh has been home. My in-laws are about to arrive and that will be helpful, too, although I'm also a little worried about having them here so long (2 weeks). I also need to get back on my feet and taking care of house stuff (laundry and dishes also my only priorities). I'm mostly worried about keeping DD sleeping well when I'm on my own running DS to and from school and doing his nap, etc. The one bad night we've had so far was after a day out doing stuff and DD didn't sleep as solidly during the day as she usually gets to.

I'm also scared approaching the 2 week mark because that's when DS got really fussy!

dd had stopped napping altogether until yesterday. all 3 of us fell asleep on the couch for about 15 mins until my il's came over. i'm going to try to repeat that today.
