Oh, this is an interesting method. I wonder if using the felt would help the nose from wearing through which happens so often with noses.
I usually tease a dime sized area of some wool up from the head ball just under the eye string line, a bit, using a strong needle. Once I get the nose the size I want, I stitch all around it, in a circle, crossing under the wool with the needle and thread pulling slightly and shaping the nose. Then cover with the skin tone knit fabric.
