What to feed my 11 month old?

I've looked through the sticky above and am checking some of the books and links out, but I still feel that I am having a brain fart on what to feed my little one. He has four teeth on top, four on bottom, is great about chewing and self feeding and has a FEROCIOUS appetite. I held off solids for as long as possible (8 months) but he has now started walking and is literally trying to inhale everything he can get his hands on. The things I've been feeding him lately are not nutritious whatsoever (crackers, bread, pasta, canned green beans) but here is what my list of requirements are:

-healthy, no eggs, no dairy

-easy to self feed

-does not require much prep work (really none at all would be great but the things we eat are not always appropriate for him due to the possibility of choking or trying to avoid certain allergens for awhile, etc.)

-does not require spoon feeding (I have four kids! I rarely have the time to sit down and spoon feed him! I'm usually inhaling my food *myself* while he's eating.)

Any ideas? I am so stumped!

Hmm, yes, he likes these things but is having trouble self feeding on those. Slippery!

How about spinach pasta, or whole-grain pasta?

My DS is 9 months, so I'm not too sure... can you feed them dried fruit and veggies? Dried banana slices?

I'm interested in this topic. My DD is 9 mos and won't eat any purees so it is all self fed. She loves starches and sometimes won't even touch the fruit or veggies I put in front of her. She adores cheerios, organic baby puffs, rice cakes and pieces of whole grain, sprouted bread. Tonight she ate pieces of tomato and roasted butternut squash...she loves the squash. Easier to pick up than sweet potato. Peas are a good one, firm tofu squares, beans. She won't eat beans (squishes them in between her fingers) but my friend's baby loves them. She hates banana texture. Basically I am on a quest to find healthy finger foods she will eat bc I don't want to be feeding her all starch. We shall see. Oh and I made a green smoothie with kate and hemp seeds in it and she drank her whole little cup...but the next day she wouldn't touch it. I was excited when she did though bc that's a great way to get fruits and greens into her.

Good luck!

you can use bread crumbs or the cereal dust in the bottom of a bag of cereal to coat slippery finger foods like bannanas and avocados. Its quick and easy. I just kept all my cereal crumbs in a baggie and used it as needed.
