Eek! He already grew out of his diapers!

All of the sudden it seemed like Ethan was leaking through his diaper cover ever single time he peed. I was thinking it was something we were doing wrong, so we tried to be extra careful how we fastened it and folded the diaper inside...

So yesterday we went to our ped appointment... And found that he's gained another 2 LBS since our last visit 2 weeks ago!!

I went to order the next size up for his diaper covers (yes, I know I should have done that before he was born...) and found that the extra smalls only fit to 12 lbs and Ethan's now 12 lbs 4 oz. I thought the rise on his covers was looking a little short, but had it fixed in my head that the xs covers went to 15 lbs. Oops. Now we might be in 'sposies for a few days til the new covers get here...

How long do babies gain weight this quickly?? At this rate we'll have a 65 lb 1 year old!!

I know that ds slowed down around 5 months. Most babies slow down when they get mobile.

Grey will be 4 weeks Monday. He was around 10lbs two weeks ago so I thought I'd go ahead and order some size S covers. I got the slow cheap shipping, figuring I had PLENTY of time for the covers to come before he grew out of the XS covers...

Yesterday the S covers showed up just in the nick of time. The XS don't fit well at all any more. And no wonder! We weighed him again... and he's up to 13lbs!

So I'm glad it's not just my little guy who is growing like a weed so far.

i'm so glad i got the thirsties duo covers because Cora's xsmall thirsties don't fit her any more since she is so tall! she only weighs 10lbs (i'm guessing cause a week ago she was 9lbs 11oz)

we still aren't even cloth diapering really because she is growing so much and i have determined she hates the wet feeling so i need to redo my whole stash.

This is a good thing! All it means is that you need to change a diaper. My ds was out of diapers at 10 mos (day time) because we did not train him to use the diaper as the toilet. I have plans to never have a toddler in diapers.

To answer the OP's question, babies do slow down as they get older. Mine grow quickly, too. Ds slowed way down about 9 mos. After about 1 year, he could actually wear clothes that were made for his age.

Eh- I skipped nb/xs covers with Keagan. Good thing too, as he'll only be in the smalls a couple more months at the rate he's going. I want to order a couple of the thirsties duo size 2 covers to see how they work on my bigger guy, and if they're a good fit, I'll just stock those as K will be in them before long as well.

At that point, I'm going to have a lot of small baby cloth diapering stuff to pass along...
