Looks amazing!!! The landlord is going to be shocked! Good for you! Sometimes I think that adversity comes our way to give us a gentle nudge in the right direction (or sometimes even a kick in the rear!) What a blessing to have such a tidy house! I know it will be so much easier to keep tidy now!!! Can't wait to hear the update, although you are probably taking a long rest!

The landlord never showed up today. I did call the main office to ask for some paperwork for something entirely unrelated to the inspection, and didn't even mention anything about it, but the woman that answered the phone is the one who did the inspection and she couldn't help herself and had to get in a little "dig" about my housekeeping. I seriously wanted to reach through the phone and gouge her eyes out.

They are coming either this Friday or next Friday for the inspection, so I figure I have a few more days to tidy up a few more things before then. I am definitely going to get myself on a maintenance schedule so that things don't get out of control again. I do need to crack down on homework as I have a HUGE paper due this coming Saturday, but I have really been trying to do little things here and there and plan to do a big chunk more this weekend. I have two rooms in my basement and both are pretty cluttered, and I would like to get it down to just one room of clutter soon and then eventually get it emptied completely.

It just keeps on going....

Wow, Pumpkin Pie - I know it has been said over and over, but you deserve to hear it again - You Rock!!! I am amazed by how much you have accomplished in so little time!!! I'm so inspired! I've been putting off cleaning for this last semester of school - and I know that in december I'll be able to move mountains, just like you!

PP, you really are amazing!! I have been procrastinating on some major decluttering, telling myself that I have a baby and my husband works nights so boohoo for me. You blew me out of the water, mama! I just have too much STUFF. Not important stuff, just stuff taking up space. You've inspired me--now I just need to get off my behind and GO!

I am amazed!! Your home looks lovely - your son's room is welcoming and warm - very cute, too! And you did it by yourself!!! I can't imagine being a single mom and managing all that you do. You should be so proud of yourself.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I cleaned the bathroom again this morning and it only took me about 10 minutes to have it shiny from top to bottom. I am freaking loving upkeep if only I can keep it going!

Tonight I am tackling the kitchen table, no matter what!

Tomorrow, the pile of bills/papers in the living room on top of the tv cabinet. Woo Hoo!!!

Wow! You are doing so great!!

I started the "holiday grandplan" thing... http://christmas.organizedhome.com/holiday-grand-plan and did the master bedroom and it got me cleaning out the garage, and I was doing great, then I was supposed to do the bathroom and got half way and the kids got sick and I lost steam I gotta get going again!

Here is the "after" picture of the basement. Here are the before pics of DS's bedroom. Here is the bed (if you can believe one is under there). Here is the closet. Here is the area by the window. Here is the wall by the door. And here is the finished room with the bed and closet! And here is the part of the room by the window and the part by the door!!! The books on those smaller book cases (from the basement landing that had food on them) contain all of the books that I kept from the very large book cases on the upstairs landing. All of the other books in the pics above were donated to the Salvation Army.

I don't know if I should be ahamed that it got this bad, or proud that it is cleaned up, but I am so insanely happy that it is nearly done.
WOW GREAT PICS!! Thank you sooo much for posting them!!! You should not be ashamed, you should be insanely happy and proud of yourself!! You are AWESOME AND INSPIRATIONAL!!!

You have done an incredible amount of cleaning and decluttering in such a short amount of time. It is an inspiration. In part due to this thread, and in part to the stars finally being aligned for me LOL, I spent 6 hours on my house today, just tidying up, organizing and cleaning. It is just the tip of the iceberg but things are looking up and I will keep at it just like you did.

I do not find it surprising that the landlord did not show up. Perhaps they really don't want to evict you and figured you'd probably need more time? Too bad - joke's on them. You were ready. Sounds like you are very motivated to keep up with things, so I'm sending you good vibes to do just that.

Congrats on a great job! I was in your shoes last year, being threatened with eviction if we didn't get our clutter under control. Nearly a year later and I keep sliding back into bad habits (I have health problems that make it hard to keep up with things and no one else contributes except for the mess). So make sure to get into a daily routine and keep on top of things before they slide back into the before.

Well, so far, so good. I cleaned the bathroom today while DS was sitting on the potty. I just grabbed a few of the Chlorox wipes and wiped absolutely everything down. It is all shiny new in there. I also washed the laundry today after only a week (I usually let it all build up for a month or more). Tomorrow I am going to tackle the clutter that is building up in the kitchen and living room. I don't think I can prevent the clutter, but I am going to try to attack it much more often.

I also still need to get to the tv cabinet. I had a pretty big paper to write for school that took up some cleaning time, and I also took DS to a fun day at the local gym today so cleaning took a back seat for a few days.

Suggestion for laundry: do a load a day! It has been so helpful for me to do this. Some days it's two loads, some days it's no loads, but on average one a day. No sitting home on Saturday feeding the washer and dryer! When I was working (SAH now), I would put a load in the washer in the morning and then toss it in the dryer when I got home. Then all you have is one load to fold and put away, so it's not overwhelming

That is a great idea for after I get my washer fixed, but going to the laundromat every single day would be a huge time commitment for me. I think I will stick with once a week for now until I can afford to get the washer repaired.

I didn't get to anything today so far, but I did go with my son to a play about 45 minutes away and spent the entire day playing with him. I still have a couple of hours before bed, so I am going to try to tackle the kitchen. I HAVE to get everything cleaned up now that it is starting to get a bit messy again. I am starting to get a little nervous with it being a bit cluttery. The bedrooms are still clean, as is the bathroom and the stair landings though, so it really isn't too bad. But still, it could all go south pretty easily.
