looking for 'affordable' nursing tops

I looked at motherwear web and filled a basket with 5 tops and 2 bras, all on sale, for $175! I just can't afford that for just those few items but I really want to have nursing tops this time around (3rd baby due in March)!! Anyone know of a website or ?? that has more affordable nursing clothes (and maternity would be nice too! )

Thanks so much!

I just had a friend mention Oldnavy.com. They are maternity nursing tops and not just nursing tops but they are long which is a huge plus in my book.

I have the nursing tanks from Target. They are about $17 I think. I wear them instead of a bra under a regular shirt. When I nurse I just lift up my shirt - this way, almost everything remains covered.

I've had a few maternity items from Old Navy and I liked them.

Thanks! Both really good ideas, I'll look into them!

Also, Walmart (if you aren't asll anti-walmart) has wicked comfortable nursing bras for 12 bucks (wide straps and everything) and nursing tanks for 13, I think

I too had a similar situation, no money but not wanting the girls to be totally on display. What has worked best for me was to just wear tank tops underneath my shirt or sweater that I can easily pop my boob out of the top. Most of the time I wear the tanks with built in bras that you can pick up cheaply from many places or try Goodwill. Best of luck!

In my opinion, nursing tops are a waste of money for the most part. Any button down shirt works fine to nurse discreetly and without stretching out your clothes.

I got nursing camis at Target for $15 each, and nursing tanks at Old Navy for $10 each.

I'm subbing as I am going to need these, too. Baby #2 due in February. But I haven't heard rave reviews about the nursing tanks at ON. They don't seem to hold up well. But have heard good things about the ones from Target - not sure of the brand. I may ask for a few from Glamourmom for Christmas - those are $30-$40.

What section? I go to Wal-Mart for work stuff and haven't ever been able to find them let alone a maternity section!!

I have to agree with the PP about the Target nursing camis and the shirt over the top. It's really discreet and no annoy nursing bra!

The only downside for me is that a lot of my tops were already a bit snug through the bust, so adding a cami underneath + nursing pads + nursing breasts = new shirts...

This is what I do as well. I wear a nursing tank under EVERYTHING. Mine are $12 from WalMart and they work just fine, although I do wish they were a tiny bit longer.

ETA: They're in the bra section, tucked on the bottom row with no labeling. They are a pain to find every time I go in. I once asked a person there and was told they didn't have any nursing stuff. Yes...they did. Grr.

Another vote for the nursing camis under another shirt. I also like the target ones and glamourmom camis-I've gotten them on sale on their website for $19 and free shipping.

Honestly, you'll be hard pressed to find nursing tops for less than $20 each. I've looked at tons of sites and stores and they are expensive no matter the quality.
I did buy a few on sale at motherwear for $22 each for this winter but I made sure the ones I bought didn't "look" like nursing tops so I could wear them anytime.

I did find some tops at Old Navy that were a wrap type v-neck top. I could just pull them aside to nurse. They didn't stretch out like I thought they would so I got them in 3 colors. They were only $8 each!

Don't rule out buying some used on these types of boards. I've had some good luck on e-bay too.

I like the nursing tops or camis so my belly isn't hanging out, especially in the cold months. I don't think they are a waste of money for this reason.
