felt bowls?

I'm interested in making them for holiday gifts, but I'm wondering what can you use them for? Fruit bowl, ??? I really love the idea of making them, I just don't want to make something that someone's not really gonna use.

What a thoughtful gift! I can think of tons of uses, by the sink to hold jewelry while doing dishes, in the bathroom, on a dresser, nightstand. It seems as the years go on I get more and more 'trinkets' to corral.

I made one a couple of years ago and it sits on my coffee table. It's decorative and functional. I keep meaning to make a couple more - I'd like one on the hall table to catch keys and another on my desk for business cards, paper clips etc. It only takes a couple of hours to knit one up, or less, depending on size and how quickly you knit.

Oh, I just made my first set of four bowls. I made them with my sister in mind. I imagine her using them for knick knacks next her bed, jewelry on her dresser and one on front hall table to hold keys, etc. I just started the first bowl in the next set for my SIL.

I have a lovely felt bowl I got in a swap, and I keep it on the end of the counter near the door and use it to keep little things corralled - coins, keys, earrings, my darning needle (I can never remember where it is, so this is it's home!) bracelets, etc.
I think they are a nice gift!

Thanks! I'm convinced! I will definitely be making some and post pics when I'm done.
