How to fix foremilk/hindmilk imbalance when nursing on only one breast?

I am tandeming my 2.5 year old and my 3 week old. My 3 week old is doing great, gaining weight really well, pooping and peeing lots. BUT, he has neon green poop, and he's a very gassy baby, and very fussy/needy as well as nursing ALL THE TIME. The only time he goes more than an hour between feeds is if we're out of the house and he's lulled to sleep in his carseat.

I suspect a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance causing the green poop, gas, and fussiness. Normally I would block feed to try to fix that. But here's the problem...my 2.5 year old is nursing SO MUCH that I've basically given him the left breast all to himself, and the 3 week old has the right breast.

My 2.5 year old is sick right now, and adjusting to new baby, so I hope that once he's better and this adjustment phase ends, he'll cut back his nursing. Because he is nursing at least 6 times a day! And because I still need to help the baby latch, I can't nurse them both together very easily yet, so I'm basically spending my days with a child attached to me nearly all the time.

So how do I fix a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance if the baby is basically only nursing off one breast? He does nurse off both sides at night, and on rare occassion during the day I'll switch him if he's really fussy on "his" side or if I just need my other hand free or something like that.

Thoughts??

fancy seeing you here

It seems to me like the immediate fix (and lord knows I'm no expert on this of all things - just my thoughts) would be to have Connor take a little off the top for you for Gavin. That way Gavin would have a better shot of getting to the hindmilk, yk? I remember you saying that Ian was a big help with that sort of thing when Connor was born - I bet Connor would even like to be helpful, yk?

If Connor lays off in the next fews weeks once he's feeling better, and as Gavin grows and wants to drink more, it will fix itself, you just need a band-aid for the time being.....
