I'm going to have an 18 month old and a nb in cloth in january. Right now, I do laundry every other day, which fills up my washer half way (one diaper pail). I do dry my diapers in the dryer.

Which is the best way to handle laundry with 2 in diapers?

A) Use two pails/pail liners. Do laundry every other day, with the washer completely full.

B) Do laundry every day . This would just be one pail, with a half full washer.

I really can't imagine doing diaper laundry every single day, but I'm concerned that if I run a full load of diapers, they wouldn't get as clean. This is silly though, right?

I have 2 in cloth, an 18 month old and a 4 month old. For the first couple months I had to do laundry every day, my 4 month old just went through SO many diapers!! In the past month or month and a half I have been able to go down to washing every other day, which is SO much nicer!

I'm washing every day right now. I can get away with a day and a half, but if I go much longer than that, the diapers are just too stuffed in the machine to get clean. I think our washer drum is smaller than average, but that is an issue for us. Routine-wise, it's easier for me just to do it daily. I don't have to do as many rinses that way, plus I know I won't forget. It just seems easier for me.

unless your washer is too small to fit both pails, just wash them together every other day. (or use one larger pail)

I've done it both ways: washed every day, and washed every other day. I kinda prefer washing more frequently with a smaller load, but either way works.

well, if i had my own washer id be washing a smaller load each day. i tend to get lazy the longer i wait and then i end up totally flustered trying to get the diapers washed before we run out. lol. thats just me though.

I only had 18 dipes at first w/a 21m & nb so washed 2 ttimes a day after I got more dipes I could go every day and that worked great.

Every day is best at the beginning. I remember wanting to do 2 days, but when we tried, it was SO full! We tried to keep them separate too and wash Noah's 1 day, RG's the next, but it was just easier to wash them all together. Going 1 1/2 days isn't so bad either and we do that often now. Can almost stretch to 2 days since our son goes through less, but we start to run out of diapers since they are about to the same size now, LOL!

Every other day with one pail.

My first two are only 13 months apart so I had two in cloth for well over a year. I found that two pails (Actually a wetbag downstairs and a pail/bag upstairs, simply for ease) with washing every other day (usually if I washed at night one day, I would need to wash in the AM two days later, so I suppose it was really more like every 1.5 days) worked well for us. I also have an extra large capacity washer, so that may have made a difference. Never had any issues with stinkyness in that time period.

Congrats on your upcoming babe!

Don't count on only having 1 pail daily with a NB and an older child. I have a 1 mo and have to wash daily because our one pail is overflowing by the end of the day. I have a sizeable stash of NB/Sm dipes and he's going through them daily.

I'd say you're probably going to have to wash daily for a while. If you have your own machines though, it's not nearly as daunting as I expected it to be.

I have had 2 in cloth for forever it seems. I wash everyother day with a full load but wash 2x and an extra rinse. But that is what works for us. We have a ton of laundry from the farm stuff and I can't seem to get to diapers every day. speaking of which.....off to do a load.
